just read a review on Blade of Thunder on GBA. they started talking about voxel technology, and i started getting all nostalgic about Outcast. that was a fun ass game, and the screens for the sequel were really coming along (i.e. it was not completely ugly like the first one). its a crying shame that Appeal went bankrupt. *sigh*
Yes. Outcast was a great game. And I didn't think it was ugly. It was low-res, but the artwork was well done, and I enjoyed the "different" look it had, clearly not the same as all the polygon games that were out at the time.
don't get me wrong, the art direction was incredible. i just meant that compared to other technologies at the time, it was behind the curve. voxel mapping just doesn't look good (as far as i have seen).
