oh man this episode had so many double entendres

the ones insulting the audience for hating nikki and paulo were the best

anyway i think the best part of this episode is the preview because i think catfights are the funniest fucking thing ever

While I enjoyed the episode (come on, Billy Dee Williams!), the preview was actually my least favorite part. I'm usually in the minority on this, but I find Kate to be an uninteresting bad girl cliche' with little-to-no redeeming qualities beyond her appearance. If the writers continue to milk the love triangle that no one's interested in, or feel the need to once again tell us that "Kate's a runner" then I'll be skipping the Kate-oriented episodes entirely in the future. I'd find Vincent's flashbacks more interesting.

Then again, I guess I feel so strongly because she's a weak link in an otherwise fantastic show. And who knows, maybe I'm wrong and they'll try to take her character to new places in the episode.

04.11.07 Episode:

What I got from it? Juliette has fantastic cans, and that's really all I could think about most of the episode.

What I got from it:

unless Juliet is willing to triple-cross, I don't see her surviving very long

also let's avoid a cliche by using an even worse cliche

I hate myself for liking Kate, but her mousy mug is so cute. :(

The last four episodes were great. Juliet is disappointing, playing poor Jack like that. I think it's funny how most seem to hate Jack, but like John? WTF?

Kate is cute enough, but it's her personality that makes her character compelling. Strong-willed, smart, and sensitive. Good role-model for women, I'd say.

Really? I think of her as unsure of herself and not too bright (telling her mom she blew up her husband, not being able to read the relationship between her mother/step-father and her mother/herself). Flaky, like getting married only to realize she doesn't do taco night. Insensitive to the people around her, like to her mom, husband, Jack and Sawyer.

Aside from murder she doesn't do anything too bad, but she tends to be annoying and cause suffering.

My favorites would have to remain Sawyer and Sayid. I rolled my eyes really hard when Juliet played the moral high pedestal card and I hope they fling that back at her soon enough.

Dumbest characters ever would have to be Jack and Locke. Now, I can't blame Jack (as much), but Locke is a complete bag of shit, considering that he knows how much Ben wants to fuck with him yet he still complies with his plans and believes him. Also believing in the island that has done little but attempt to kill many of your friends? HURRRRR

Here's to hoping Sawyer kills his dad as a sound "fuck you" and Desmond giving him a sock in the jaw when he returns as a second "fuck you".

She's boning a hobit: -1

Charlie & Hurley. Charlie seems to not have shit to do w/ anything else. I'm hoping Desmond sleeps in one day and we don't have to deal w/ Charlie anymore.

EDIT: Nobody else thinks Juliette has a nice body?

I thought Juliet was hot until they tried to rub it in my face with the mud wrestling. Wait a minute, nope, still hot. I like her when she's not being overly pouty (15% of the time). Percentage is dropping as the non-pouting moments become pangs of guilt at being a camp spy/whatever moments.

Charlie easily wins most expendable.

I watched this with friends a couple weeks ago. Although I'll sound like Specineff with a bunch of pointless moralizing, some of the commercials were sad-hilariously misogynist. This wife comes in the house with an armload of groceries (because heaven forbid the bitch have a job!) and cleans up after her sloppy fucking family (not just the kids, but the dad in a business suit). We all laughed about it at the time, but I kinda wish I remembered which cleaning product that was so I could boycott it for fun and profit.

It was the one where they randomly found a van with a corpse in it. I don't really get the show, I'll have to borrow DVDs so I can start it from the beginning

Smart people are sometimes insecure, do stupid things, and are flaky. Kate is supposed to be smart-- think back to the really smart-flirty dialogue between Kate and Sawyer in earlier seasons (I haven't watched much of this season). Sometimes she's even shrewd. At the same time, we are supposed to think that deep-down she has a real sensitive side. Sawyer recognizes this fact about her and it sometimes brings out the best in him. I should add: sensitive people do insensitive things sometimes.

Juliet is more my type physically. I can enjoy a show that features her, whatever the story.

I don't think she's necessarily stupid, but I just don't think she can be described as smart either. She doesn't drool on herself, but. On the island she seems to have survival skills and can take care of herself. That's her best attribute. But in the real world? She's a "runner" but she can't seem to elude the authorities. Didn't she get caught twice and only escaped by dumb luck (truck/plane crashing)? Then in a recent flashback she nearly walked right into custody to talk to her mother, only saved from another capture by an accomplice (encountered by more dumb luck). She's also good at lying, knocking people out, dislocating shoulders, etc. :)

Characters I think are smart: Jack, John, Sayid, Ben, Juliet. Kate is in the middle of the pack, above Hurley, Charlie, Arzt (RIP), Shannon (RIP), etc.
I should add: sensitive people do insensitive things sometimes.
True, but she's shown far more insensitivity. Basically she does what she wants to do at the expense of others and feels a little guilty about it afterwards.

I don't think Jack should be anywhere near the top of the intelligent list

also you might want to switch Ben with Locke

Yeah, that's in no order. Jack lost some smart points when he let Juliet play him so easily.

My wife agrees with you about Kate, that she's not supposed to be so smart. She's too impulsive, too easily falls into the predictable trap, for example, even after Jack has warned her. You guys have nearly convinced me, except...

First, let me say that your list of who is smart is a good one, with one important exception. I think Sawyer should be near the front of the list, in spite of his many flaws. He is verbally the quickest-- most quick witted-- he's always reading, and unless the plot requires otherwise he's very shrewd/crafty.

Among the women (Juliet aside) Kate stands out precisely because she can keep up with Sawyer and Jack-- she's spunky, cute, and intelligent. With that said, I think the show falls into the familiar, unfortunate trap of making the men the "rational, calm, calculating" ones that need to be the leaders. Even Juliet is a puppet atm.

Come to think of it, we've not seen a Jack episode since the season premiere, and we've not seen a Charlie at all this season (other than him popping up in Desmond's flashback).

One of my friends said he was glad the show wasn't on HBO. If it was... the guys would've all been hooking up by now.

Oh, yeah. How could I forget. They actually filmed the Thai bar scene in the building down the street from my old office. I was so ready for Bi Ling to whip out a dick at the end of the episode. I mean, they were in Thailand afterall...

How is this show going by the way? I've seen the first two seasons, but haven't bothered with the third yet. From what I've heard, I guess they "jump the shark" in the third season, is this true?

If you liked the whole Gilligans Island aspect of it, you will be very disappointed w/ the 3rd season. If you liked the X-Files meets Twin Peaks aspect of it, Season 3 is by far the best. They answer a lot of questions (more than X-Files ever did at this point) but they haven't gotten out of the habit of opening more every episode.

I'm w/ Rob. Although "Best on TV" isn't really saying much.

Definitely the best thing on TV since Day Break got cancelled Image

This weeks episode is really playing with my head. While you guys are worrying about the lady that babbles in multiple languages (Spanish, Chinese, Italian thus far), I'm still thinking about whom I'd rather see Kate sleep with more: Sun or Juliette.

Sun is a dirty bird... and I don't have a thing for Asian chics either. She's pretty westernized it seems though.

Yeah... Charlie needs to go. Unfortunately, I'm sure Hurley will be around for ages.
