It's funny that you posted this because I just picked up a copy of Chaos Field yesterday on a whim. I'm not really into shmups that have you deflect/reflect/window-wipe bullets away but I've found myself actually quite involved in CF the couple of times I've played it now.
I'd probably enjoy it more if I knew what the hell everything was/did, like all the different shots and the combo meter and whatnot...heads off to strategy forum.

you meant last hope right? There are people that like this game? WTF?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I like it because it's on Gamecube. I mean, if I didn't like it, what else would I play on that thing?
Seriously though, the mechanics are kind of interesting and the bullets patterns get to be a lot of fun. I also like the fact that there are a couple different ways to handle the patterns...dodge 'em, slash 'em, or use your shields.

Interesting, I really don't quite "get" the game I guess. I mean, it's fun isolated, but compared to other stuff it sorta just feels like a tech demo to me. The ship is so huge, game is so slow, etc. But hey, glad people like it! I haven't played a ton of Radirgy yet, but the little I did play seemed far superior to Chaos Field. Maybe one of these days I'll go back to CF and give it another chance.
I got mad gigabytes.

I just like it because I can just sit down and play maybe beat the game in a 15 minute timeframe. I really like the swords it's nice to just sweep away shots. I use the Chaos field for some bosses and some I use the Order Field for. I think it's almost overwhelming with all the gimmics but it still is very playable. They give you two ways to block shots you have the wing layer and the swords of course. It comes down to learning how to handle each barrage of shots for each enemy. The game isn't terrible looking, but I'm just liking it for the sheer amount of dodgable projectiles some bosses spew out. I've never felt cheated either in this game. everything seems dodgable. Some elements are half assed but the gameplay is why I like it. I could just be ignorant-all my shmups for all my slstems are North American region locked.
The fun for me lies in quick killing bosses and swishing away their shots. It has a nice frantic feeling to it.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

More than Ikaruga.
And that's where we go a bit overboard.yojo! wrote:Best shmup of the new century
With Border Down and DDP DOJ both being 21st century also, I have to disagree.
Still, it's a VERY nice game and enjoyable game. It'll surely make my top 25 again this year.

And when would that be!?!??!Pirate1019 wrote:I liked it, but I never really played it very intensely. It was what I would play when I overdosed on Ikaruga. I'll probably pop it in again whenever my Gamecube is plugged in next.
I guess I just fall into the category of people who didn't "get" it. I'm not saying that it isn't a good game, or that I didn't get some enjoyment out of it, but it did fail to hook me. Thus, it sits on the afterburner, for the time being.

I was referring more to the "...whenever my Gamecube is plugged in next" part.Pirate1019 wrote:After I've played the first level over 100 times in a single day and still haven't seen an improvement in my score.Krooze L-Roy wrote:And when would that be!?!??!![]()
Then again, I guess there's still Radirgy on the way.
