Another new addition to the shmup community

Post by VeganZombie »

May not be my first post, but I think I should introduce myself a bit. :D I've actually been playing shmups for a while now, but it's only recently that I discovered my true addiction to the genre. I actually started playing smups when I around 10, and a friend brought over Gradius for us to play. It's gotten worse since then.

I finally beat Gradius 3, and moved on to Einhander which led me to recently buying a Dreamcast so I could enjoy games like Mars Matrix, Ikaruga, Karous, Trigger Heart Exelica etc. etc. and I've fallen in love with shmups.

I love the simplicity (kill everything) and the complexity (dodge elaborate bullet patterns and or change colors on the fly).. plus, I love that feeling you get when you squeeze past that storm of bullets you thought for sure was going to kill you. So I feel like I'll be right at home among a bunch of other guys who love shmups as much (if not more) than I do...

I even see a few of you guys have arcade machines? In your houses?!

Crazy stuff.

Welcome aboard.

Yes shmups are like a potent drug with only half the health loss.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I was a vegan for 4 years, and used to use usernames that started with "vegan." Even worked in farm animal rescue for a period of time during college. That's over, but I can still appreciate it. Now on to my gyro for lunch... ;)

EDIT: Oh yeah, welcome!!! It's fun stuff, indeed.
I got mad gigabytes.

Nope, not a vegan. Sorry to dissappoint, but I find great humor in a Zombie who has an objection to meat and substitutes brains for..
