I was playing the Saturn ver of Gunbird, and I looked at an art gallery that was obviously amateur-ish (there are more than 400 illustrations). Then I watched some videos of Marion picking out the best drawings (when the drawing involved herself, she was given the ugliest ones) for each character. The characters would exchange dialogue about the ones they chose as the best and then say "Thank you!"
Does anyone recall a drawing contest for the fans back in Japan? I just think it's amazing that Psikyo/Atlus included even the worst illustrations (some consisting of nothing but simple lines). It's really hard to find this kind of appreciation for the fans in any game, and the only other case that's similar to this is Capcom's MM Robot Master contest.
I just thought this was really neat; having the Gunbird characters talk about your pictures must have made quite a few kids happy back then.

Just checked out my manual to Gunbird; in the last pages, it lists every name of every artist (I noticed two names in English were called Rayforcer and Gradias, kewl) and I just thought that was the sweetest thing.
I mean, you'd think putting their art in the game was good enough and having Marion and co. pick out the best drawings and talk about them, but to also give credit to the kid artists in the back of the manual?
Talk about going the extra mile for the fans. This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside..
