Transcoder converts arcade RGB 15.7kHz signal to VGA 31kHz

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

This isn't my eBay auction but am just merely pointing out the unusual "Transcoder PCB" to convert an arcade 15.7 kHz RGB signal to VGA 31 kHz -- very interesting setup indeed...just how good is this particular transcoder PCB setup though?

Of course, if $$$ is no object, then getting an XRGB-2 or an XRGB-3 to use with an analog CRT-based SVGA or LCD-based PC monitor setup would be the best that money can buy, right? ^_~

Yes, I do already have an XRGB-2 with Japanese RGB 21-pin cable interface to use with my Superguns... ^_~

looks nice but that's a damn steep price for something that doesn't have a case :/ I wonder what the quality is like...

Technically speaking, a transcoder converts from RGB to Component (or vice versa). This is just called an upscaler.

Strange how this only supports particular frequencies and lists particular manufacturers....which means it will NOT support all PCBs like Seibu for example. XRGB series is still far superior with all the options (like my favorite - fake scanlines).
