SUCCESS!! Dangun Feveron/Fever SOS ROM swap (READ LAST POST)

Post by segasonicfan »

I have both Dangun Feveron and Fever SOS PCBs and read at world-of-arcades.net that the JP ROMs should work on a Fever SOS board. However, neither game would boot with reversed ROMs. I was told my Dangun Feveron ROMs were good but if they should always work on a swap maybe they need to be replaced? Or does this swap not always work? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks,

-Zach

I assume you're talking about this page:

http://world-of-arcades.net/Cave/Feveron/Revisions.htm

Please confirm that if you take the ROM's from your Dangun Feveron PCB and move them to your Fever SOS it do not work.

The reverse will not work. I.e. Fever SOS in a Dangun Feveron. This is why Tux & myself made the patch.

thanks for the reply rtw. yeah, when I put in the Japanese roms (Dangun Feveron) into the Fever SOS board it does not work. Are you saying if I burn the Roms from that page that they'll have a patch for it to work?

No. He's saying you can't put Fever SOS roms in a Dangun board without patching them.

Dangun roms to a Fever SOS board should work. I have such a board, actually.

Yes, I know. It says so on the link.

That's what this thread is about. This is not working with my boards. I had someone look at the Dangun roms and said they were working. My Dangun Feveron game has some graphical problems so after the roms were checked ok I figured it was something wrong with the PCB. Thus, I bought Fever SOS hoping to swap the roms. Maybe I should I get the Dangun Feveron roms checked again since the swap isn't working...

I found the fix!! I scanned over my FeverOn SOS and Dangun Feveron boards and found ONE main difference. There is a jumper (well 2 actually) in the upper left hand side that controls the region. Connect JP1 for Japanese Region and connect JP2 for Internation region. I don't have a working Japanese board yet but maybe this will work for FeverOn SOS roms on a Dangun board? It works the other way around ^_^

Interesting news :D

Could I please have a copy of your two PCB scans ? If they are larger than photobucket or similar can accept, please PM me and I'll give you my email address.

So just to make things crystal clear:

If you have a Fever SOS PCB and you insert a Dangun Feveron ROM set it will not work unless you change the jumper to JP1 1&2 ?

I don't think that the reverse is true i.e. putting a Fever S.O.S ROM set in a Dangun Feveron PCB. The reason for this is that there is an explicit check in the program code for a value in EEPROM. The program checks if the last two bytes are 0x05 & 0x19.
