Just For Fun I ~ Slide Month
Space Bomber ~ Psikyo 1998

Stinking Aliens! Why did you betray us?

OK I bet you are a bit suprised by this title comming up in the league but hey seriously the EMU did pick this one out of a crowd of early Space Invader wannabe's, nice!

Anyway In case you don't know this is more like the later game's in the Galaxan series were you can move up and down but you are still on the same screen. Being a Psikyo game this does have some unqiue twists to what some may cosnider a tired gender of shmups. Some unique bombing and grabing mechinics (grappling hook is the second fire button!) as well as intresting enemy and level designs make this game stand out from the crowd. Space Bomber is well worth playing but if you vist this site a lot you proberbly already knew that already right?

Rules
* Do not use continues, auto fire, save states, cheats blah blah....
* Use the orignal ship only please
* please use MAME defaults as shown below

Ah! I can't believe I completely overlooked the first month of this. Is it okay for me to just jump in at the second month, or is it only for people who signed up in advance?

Remember to use the super grappling hook bombing technique! Hold down the fire button then press the grappling hook buttion (button 2) to use your charged up captive as a super high scoring bomb.

Not my best (only ~200k away though) but I'm happy with it. :)

The best place to get loads of points fast (that I've found so far) is 2-1, when those blue things speed around the screen.
Sit in the middle at the bottom of the screen and use a "grapple-bomb" (not really sure what to call it) when all of those blue things are in a big pile just above you.

Yeah I noticed that thsoe grapple bombs do get you a lot of money. I guess those enemies head charging in to them can score you a lot of points eh? ;)

Oh and nice score btw! :)

Man, these are some easy bosses.

Even the midbosses are harder wtf.

The level 5 boss is a bitch. The level 6 boss I've never been able to kill (I've gotten as far as 6-3).

It's hilarious when the bosses get killed in seconds from charge shot abuse.

shoe-sama - 3,552,700 - 5-1 - pic

Better figure out the first part of 4-2 midboss's pattern, I lost two lives to that thing. And for some reason I keep dying to the 3-2 midboss, which is just plain wtf. Might have to take the retard way out and bust out a turtle or two if this keeps happening.

God bless those crazy blue alien guys for they are really easy to get big points from. Yeah Space Bomber is based a lot on memory but it's a fantastic game no?

All I gotta say is... STUPID GAINT PIG!!!

1,300 points away from my best... wish I hadn't missed a bunch of turtles and frogs on 1-3 (I think).

I knew I should've restarted after dying thrice before stage 4... lack of quality control ftl.

Someone remind me to stay on the bottom of the screen.

Just for fun... 2 games ... no more. This game was evil in the tourney 1 or 2 years back.

Have a nice day! :)

Zero-Class Space Bomber is one tough mofo... at least until you figure out the speedkill. Wait until aimed bullets come your way before letting mass charge shots loose, then stockpile some pigs to spam right when it summons a midboss.

Unmo King's alien summon raped me... >_>

I've got replay if anyone wants it.

If you manage to all-clear it, I'd love to see the replay.

My best so far is 6.1 million at 6-3. However, this was from a year ago so not applicable for this comp.

SCORE NOT FOR COMP (copy and paste the URLs):
Wolf 103 Replay (6,120,900)

Kinda getting there, just need to get to world 6 with one or two extra lives to make room for mistakes. I already have the final boss figured out from mass savestate usage.

Almost there. Would've cleared it, but I had a stupid death on 4-3 and an accidental death on Monkey Bomb.

Sweet! Please tell me you are recording these. I'd love to see the entire stage 6 fight.

Landshark if you enable direct 3d on the emulator you can use a programe called fraps to record your mame footage to video but this requires a beefy computer I would imagen.

Yeah, I've got replays.

onoz

577HK dies on 6-4 form 2, 5M dies after surviving 1 attack cycle (I think, too lazy to check) from form 3.

Recorded on Mame32 103, dunno if they'd work on other versions or anything like that.
