sorry, couldn't fit the whole question into the subject line. i'm looking to buy both these games sometime this spring, and wondered if there are any differences between the japanese versions, and the international versions...? anything to be wary of, or is one version significantly cheaper, etc?
all help appreciated

Wouldn't the international versions be pretty hard to get hold of It would be a case of getting lucky on ebay or something.
Is there definatly an international version of ES ra de?
Also it would be great if a database listed all the regions arcade games were released in.

I got my ESP Ra.De. International from Excellentcom for 140+ shipping, which was probably on the expensive side. I think the only difference is that the text is in English instead of Japanese. I know that there's a difference with the US and Japanese version of Donpachi, but I don't think that there is with the international and Japanese version of DDP.
There are no gameplay differences between the JPN and International version of both games, just kanji/english. The real difference is in materials used in making the boards.
I've owned both the JPN and International versions of DDP, and it may have been just my board, but the JPN version had more slowdown, even when compared to the 1998 gamest superplay vhs. Leading me to believe that the components on the international boards stand the test of time better. Or maybe they aren't played as much so the components don't ware down as fast. Visually you can see they used a different brand of capacitor throughout the international board.
As far as collectors are concerned, I think they value JPN over International. But thats just pure Otaku. Hong Kong distributors have picked up on this, and consequently raised prices on some JPN versions. I prefer the international version of both DDP and ESPrade.
