sanwabuttons that fires without touching

Post by Inkvisitor »

Ok so I built this stick a while ago, it has green screw in OBSN 24/30 sanwabuttons (http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=9774)

I have it hooked up to an IPAC-2 and it outputs PS/2 signals to a "Smart JoyFRAG" PS2 adapter. Problem is that the startbutton autofire without touching it, usually giving me the optionsscreen. I know sanwa buttons are sensitive and it could be caused by vibrations from other buttons. Is there any way I can easily test this ? Maybe have the button hooked up directly to some kind of counter so I can exclude my other gear as the source of error.

Try to remove startbutton first, maybe some wires are damaged.
If will be no autofire after it, try to replace this button with other.

Thanks for your help. I don't actually have any spare buttons but I guess I can switch the startbutton with select.

First try to remove wires from startbutton then. Check if all is OK during game (you can start game by connecting removed wires in hands).
Next switch select with start.
