Heavy Weapon... Hmmm

Post by No_not_like_Quake »

So I d/led the trial version of Heavy Weapon for XBLA today. It's ok but way too easy and simplistic, or seems so. It seems the only motivations for d/ling the full game for 800 Microsoft Points are to unlock 4-player survival mode and achievements, as I got to something like the 6th stage on the trial.

Anyway, I haven't decided if I liked it yet. It definitly starts off boring. Anyone else try it? Thoughts?

I'm not too impressed either but apparently we're missing something because everyone at TNL seems to fucking love it. I could imagine the 4-player online making the game 1000x better, but I'm just gonna save my points for Worms and SotN whenever that hits.

Same here. I tried the demo and after going though several levels unscathed, I aborted the game and went back to playing some classic Contra.

I think that they tailor made Heavy Weapon for people who have never played run-n-guns before. Yeah, guys... despite how horribly sad as it sounds, there's probably quite a few of those losers out there.

I hear that the game gets MUCH harder after the initial few stages though, so obviously the demo isn't a good representation of the difficulty.

Imagine playing a Shienryu or Donpachi demo of the first 3 stages and thinking that they're far too easy -_^

I did the same exact thing.

Possibly the most boring game I've played since... Feeding Frenzy, by the same developer funnily enough.

It's clear that we are not their target audience.

persevere with it - the survival mode and later levels are much more hectic!

Ressurrecting the thread just to state my appreciation: this game is tons of light casual fun!!! :)

I don't understand why it's in off-topic though.
Isn't Space Invaders a shmup? It's just like it!
