Their best album by far, reminds me of highschool. :)
Hehe. Yeah, me too. I found it in a box of tapes I hadn't seen in years, and popped it in. I'd forgotten how good it was.

Egad...I still listen to a lot of what I did in high school. Wasn't I supposed to grow up some day and...I dunno...like Hootie and the Blowfish or something? :?

So:

Jay Reatard - Blood Visions
The John Coltrane Quartet - The Complete Africa/Brass Sessions
Black Sabbath - s/t
V/A - Punks Not Dread
Bulemics/Drunken Thunder - split 7"
Brown Stars - demo
The Beguiled - "Black Gloves" 7"

Man "Cath Carroll" off Unrest - Perfect Teeth is possibly my favorite song in the world. Too bad the acoustic version isn't as good. Just ordered Imperial F.f.r.r. with an xmas gift cert, hope it has more like it.

I'd like to derail and request more power pop recommendations, maybe start a separate thread

Anyone pick up the new Bad Brains DVD, I'm not a huge fan although I like 'banned in dc' about 45 seconds in

Weirdly this is the one sets of prime coltrane I don't own. I had it on junkified vinyl at one point and have really wanted to pick up the cds but it just doesn't happen (that and for some reason stores tend not to stock it, damn it!)

Got some more good stuff for Christmas I've been enjoying:

The Legends - Facts and Figures
Oppressed by the Line - The Cause of the Colour
Piano Magic - Incurable
Mahogany - Connectivity! (2CD)
Televise - Songs to Sing in A and E

Also dug out my copy of Chapterhouse's Rownderbowt (2CD), and I've been enjoying that quite a bit. Crazy to see this album sell for $200+ on ebay these days, I bought it brand new for $15 when it came out in 1997.

The unrest song I was talking about earlier is on a purple 7" single at the record co's website, I got 2. $4 including shipping

Unrest - B.P.M. is also worth checking out, particularly 'June'

It took me years to finally find it. *mystified*

Tied one on last night, so my head's not too good...

So the following, on low volume:

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase and Geogaddi
Brian Eno - Ambient 4/On Land

Just picked up The Complete Birth of Cool - Miles Davis and loving it. Very different to In A Silent Way which i also got recently and love.

Also got a double cd Nina Simone set called Gold for when i'm feeling fragile.

Listening to a lot of the Art for Spastics podcast too. Lots of lovely post punk mash and heavy stuff alongside experimental noise and electro stuff. Advisable.

Anthology of American Folk music

http://www.folkways.si.edu/search/Album ... px?ID=2426#

I've probably been remiss in posting this thing. While many of you may write off the idea of such vintage collections, this wasn't assembled by someone who just wanted to document things for the sake of documentation. Collected by well known weirdo/archivist Harry Smith, every track on here cultivates something a bit edgy and surreal to a point where you really start wondering if the so-called 'future' we live in isn't in fact pretty damn tame and normal compared to our rustic kin. Yeah, maybe this explains more about American than it should....

Jackie Mittoo and the Soul Brothers "Last Train to Skaville" My favorite ska record of all time.

The Skatalites "Phoenix City" Best ska band of all time

Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner "The Complete 2000 Year Old Man" How did I live 34 years before hearing this? I'll never make it to 2000 if I don't wise up quick.

The Jerky Boys "4" Their best.

Armitage Shanks "Nevermind the Ballcocks"

"Space Ghost's Musical Barbecue" I love Cartoon Planet songs :)

Thee Headcoats "Earls of Suavedom" Christmas present to myself. Thanks Big D!

Thee Headcoatees "Sisters of Suave"

The Statics "Rat City" OMFG best songs about Seattle ever written.

The Statics/Primate 5 split "I Hate Everyone" Sometines I really do.

Lou Rawls "Baby, Ain't I Good To You" Black Sinatra on this record. "Two Tickets West" is aweome.

Chet Atkins "Mr Guitar" I was hoping it'd be a little more rockin.

Los York's "68" Purchased on the strength of their 60s Argentinian rock band look. Music does NOT disappoint.

Thee Headcoats "Headcoatitude" Yet another fine version of "My Dear Watson". Headcoats rule.

The Meters "Struttin" Best Meters record I own. I need more.

Supernova - ages 3 and up
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy
Nirvana - Incesticide
Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy, 3

I'm trying to find more pop that no one has heard of, not to be a dickhead, just for something new

I think that you guys will dig the following vids:

Music by the KLF. Hot Cowboys cheerleader near the beginning.

Oh no.

Alright Mr Pennsylvania. I'm going to have to write you up for flagrant misuse of the word "hella".

It may be advisable to spend at least two years on the west coast or just leave that word for the pros. Otherwise you'll just keep fucking it up.

Boris - Absolutego
My friend was telling me about these guys. He said they're like the Japanese Melvins with longer jams. I'll definitely need to check these guys out.
Fantomas - Delirium Cordia
This is the only Fantomas album I haven't heard yet. How does it compare with Fantomas and Suspended Animation?
Do you really like that one better than Ride the Skies?
I haven't heard that one yet, but I'll make it next on the list if you're recommending it.
The Devil Isn't Red owns all this albums.
I think I have this one on iTunes but haven't properly listened to it yet. I do know their new album is going to be released on Ipecac and Mike Patton has predicted that this is going to be the year of Hella. :D

Coincidentally, I've been listening to Goon Moon - I've Got A Brand New Egg Layin' Machine.
Alright Mr Pennsylvania. I'm going to have to write you up for flagrant misuse of the word "hella".
I wouldn't use it if it weren't the name of the band.

Aha! Not the band, the expletive. I know not the band "Hella". I thought you were inadvertantly trying to blow it with a great slang term.

A thousand and one apologies for my indorrect assumption.
