Yea I noticed the crustiness of a couple of the cabs. One of the Futari 1.01 monitors was so blurry as to be unplayable...kind of makes one think about how they handled the PS2 port of the first game the way they did. "You mean people want to see Mushihimesama? No way!"

I agree about Cave under-estimating the demand. They could have sold so many Ibara and DOJ posters, but I guess they thought only like 5 people were interested? Christ...I hope they slapped themselves after they saw the 100-person-long line on the first day.

yeah, i appreciated seeing the two DDP cabs there. i forgot to grab a free light-up toy, though :(

Would one of you who attended please confirm the following description?

For the chronology of shooting thread:

Mushihime-sama Blue Label <---is 'ver 1.5' written in-game? Ketsui style?
Mushihime-sama Futari ver 1.5 Red Label <--festival score trial ver - Ketsui style? 3 PCBs awarded to top scorers
Mushihime-sama Futari ver 1.01 <-- gives the player two extra bomb stock

Many thanks to GP, sven, Kaneda, et al, for reporting of this event!

Re: The term counter-stop.

Yes, it has to stop, and it works for anything type of counter. Score, stat, whatever.

-Mushihime-sama "Blue Label". There's no 1.5 or Blue label written in game. I might have some video of the title screen somewhere. I hae to dig up my laptop. I do not think it has the KEtsui scoring style. It starts the player off w/ two options though, w/ different colors than the standard

-Mushi Futari 1.5 (Red Label). Yes on all accounts

-Futari 1.01 -- not sure at alll Didn't really play it.

Yep, that's it. I've spent much time with 1.0 and this version was no different apart from the added bombs.

i thought about it but Ken said i would never fit so, no sale.. :P

about mushimesama blue label.. i think it had a little "blue label" sign floating around the titlescreen just like futari 1.5 does...

Megaupload is definitely not working for me. It's impossible to perform the trick zlk suggested because I don't see any code :?
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the counter-counter stop is only possible in blue version. Ram mentioned a counter of 1 bil at the 5th mid-boss, and with that you can score A LOT of millions every second. I haven't see this vid but a counter like that on the normal version would have gave to the players billions of points, way more than 2,6 at the end of the game.

Well, if you got a 999,999 counter at the midboss, it would fall like rain throughout the rest of the level. I don't care how good you are, your counter after the 5th stage midboss is going to fall throughout the 2nd half of that stage.

I don't get your point. Sven talked about a 999,999,999 counter (sadly I just can't download the vid, if someone could host it in another place I'd be a happy bunny!). Even with a huge fall with a starting counter like that you're going to score crazy points, way more than what is possible to score with the normal game (even if hacked in some weird ways).

Oh, sorry. The vid Sven showed was a 999,999 counter. I don't think 999,999,999 is possible, but I'd love to see it if it's for real.

Oh errr, 999,999 is another thing :D
That's interesting. My opinion is that they allowed the players to reach similar counters in Blue Label easily just to have a show-time during the event. Taking inspiration from what SWY did, of course. I don't think any kind of auto-hack stuff was involved in Blue Label... But still, who knows?

LOL... he/you did better than me. :)

And cheers, MMM. I couldn't get Mega Upload to work either but didn't feel like bitching about it.

Ok, here we are:
- the score goes over 1 bil during the vid
- he is tapping with his own hands, no autofires are involved. It's a default run.
- the counter goes over 800K just by tapping A, and you can't see the counter flash red (edit: this actually happens but only twice, weird. He is probably wrong in his positioning/tapping frequency, but he's still able to get that counter)
- the counter is not counter-stopped
- with laser counters around 3700 he should be able to get way more than that counter with C tapping

So Blue Label is totally different from normal Mushihimesama even in the counter management.

I got the impression from Arcadia Magazine that the competition is open to more than just those who were there on the day, given that there's a coupon to fill in with your score, name, address and so on. There's a big six page article on version 1.5 too. I'll see if my Japanese girlfriend can explain the competition details to me.

How can they compete in the competition if there's no PCBs to play on?

My japanese'e friend said to me that the only difference between the Futari's 1.1/1.01 ver and tha old 1.0 version is the correction of the 4° boss last transformation bullet pattern!!! :o

Results here. The second place score Gaijin Punch and I actually watched happen. Once I saw his counter go past 90k I said to Paul, "Well, he got one [of the boards]."

Figures that GFA-ISO got first place (by nearly 100 mil).
Would be nice if they ported Mushi Futari to some console and had this extra mode as the "arrange mode". Pretty sure it won't happen though. :x

Would that be the same ISO from the Ikaruga Appreciate DVD (Easy Mode player)?
