Will they ever make a game in 3d or in high res ?

Will there be a DoDonpachi IV ?

What about Ketsui 2 ?

Pics of the DDP Campaign cab and flyers/stuff would be more than nice :!:
I recall that Seven Force/Eight One on the old Shmups.com site had posted some pics of this special DDP Special Campaign Version cabinet when it was at Try Amusement Tower a couple of years back...what a sight to behold indeed! ^_~

(I wonder if Gaijin Punch "wet" himself looking at those DDP Special Campaign cab pics? -- just j/k'ing with ya, man.....) ^_~

Eight One & CIT are two different people. Very different. Eight One a rather dark complected American who shaves his head, CIT a fair-complected German... well, half German. I may be the only guy here that's met them both.

As for the DDP Campaign Version. I'm not such a DDP fan. Honestly, other than the title screen, I'll likely not be able to tell anyone the differences between it and the original.

It hasn't started yet so I don't think there's much to report, but I'll be there first thing tomorrow morning when it opens. CIT, Gaijin Punch and sven666 will be there as well I think.

I'm hoping that some of the higher-ups at Cave will be there so I can ask them some stuff I've always wondered.

Yeah. If IKD is there I'm going to pound him with questions and of course, praise. Something tells me he'll make an appearance on Saturday.

Guess I'll be the first to spill the beans.

First, it didn't seem as much "matsuri" as it seemed "concession". Basically, there was a queue from the 5th flue down to the 2nd or 1st (in the stairwell). I got there at 09:45, and started on the 3rd floor I believe. I finally got up to the front desk to buy my gear around noon.

There was quite a bit to choose from:
Figures:
All the Ibara figures

Posters:
3 Mushi Futari posters (main, main w/o logo, and the instruction card set)
ESPGaluda II
Ibara
Pink Sweets
Mushihime-tama
DOJ

OST:
Galuda
Galuda II
Pink Sweets
Ibara
Mushi (w/ figure)
DOJ / Ketsui

Mobile phone straps:
I'll post a picture of these soon

Other:
Mushi T-shirts (two types)
Cave T-shirt
Galuda II DVD
PS2 versions of Galuda & DOJ (sealed, of course)

The Cave shirt & Galuda II, Ibara, and Mushihime-tama posters were sold out by the time I got there. The DOJ one went soon after. I know NTSC-J got one, and I think Sven, but CIT missed out. Bummer.

As for the games:
There were two copies of DDP Blue Version. I played it, and of course sucked as I'm no good at DDP. At least I can say I've played it now.

The score attack contest is a special version of Mushihime-sama Futari. They're calling it 1.5 Score Attack version or something like that. It's basically 1.5, but they've added in a Ketsui-style system where the multiplier goes up higher, the closer you are to enemies when you kill them. The contest is for Original mode only. We watched one guy sack the game, w/ a 590 million score. The top 3 scores get the special version PCB.

Another featured game was Mushihime-sama Futari 1.01. I have no clue what was different. I assume it's 1.0 w/ the Ketsui-style scoring.

Last but not least, was Mushihime-sama v1.5. I got quite a bit of video of this. The big blow to me on this one was that there is no Maniac mode. If you try to select it, it automatically goes to Ultra. Original and Ultra mode both start out w/ two options (formation) and their lasers are blue, red, or green, depending on which level power (S, W, or R) specifically. Other than that, the main differences to me seemed that Original had faster bullets (and a shitload of dropped frames) and Ultra had more bullets, but way slower. I'm not that familiar w/ either mode though, so someone will have to look at the video and tell me.

Other than that, there was all kinds of cool shit on display.
-Framed posters of Progear, ESPRade, Guwange, etc., costumes from their last few games, as well as the over-sized standups.

I saw IKD-san for a whopping total of 2 seconds. Got out my camera, and was only able to get a shot of the back of his head. Fucker. Good thing for him I'm not a sniper.

EDIT: There was a cool little handout they had, where various Cave related artists got together and did a small Mushi Futari strip. The front cover was done by Junya Inoue, the back cover by Kadoutsukasa. One of the inside strips done by Chako, from Curios Cat, amongst a few others.

Pics to come later.

I thought all the remixed versions were pretty fun, but it sort of bugged me that this time will be the last they'll be seen. Futari ver1.5 score attack was awesome, I don't know why they didn't release that instead.

Shitty event though. "Festival" is disingenuous at best. Maybe if they put up rarer items for sale and not just surplus stuff that was taking up space back at the office, it would've been more special. Nice to have a DOJ poster finally though.

Ha ! We know there are at least two copies of this game, we can assume there are three as the only other known to this day belongs to an individual.
There is more chance so see one on the market one day...

well by the timei got there the line was pouring well out into the street.. luckily being gaijin bufoons me and xipe managed t cut in around the first floor..

and yeah, not so much a "festival" as a tiny display of merch and apparently Caves sense for finetuning shit theyve already released :?

mushi 1.5 was the regular futari but faster bullets is all, plowed about 6 credits intoit later and the scoring in both original and maniac was the same as the regular edition, bullets were about twice as fast tho, got my hopes up with a 150mil original score but the HS table sadly started at about 650mil so.. no prize :(

mushime blue label was just faster bullets in original and more bullets in Ultra, no maniac. managed to get to the last boss (its captured too) a couple of times so its proboably easier than regular original too.. insaneley twitchy gameplay.. quite fun too.

DDP campaign version (of which there were two btw) was the best tho, this is one killer upgrade for sure, id love for cave to start offering it as a service!

all in all, playing the games was kinda fun, the merch was weak ashell(and most of it sold out too, no ddp poster for me), and the line was ridiculous!
best part was definetly the small pocket of shmups resistance that managed to gather, very cool!!

stay tuned for vids and pics....

ed: CIT and gaijinpunch i managed to erase/not get your numbers so please PM them to me if you wanna hook up for more shmupsaction in the coming weeks

My spider sense tells me they were printed for this event, as was Mushi 1.5. Destroyed afterwards? Probably not, but stuck in a vault for sure.

I think the coolest items were the straps, actually.

Sometimes companies do not put their entire stock of items out the first day of a three day event. He should stop by the arcade every morning if he really wants a poster. One might show up tomorrow or the next day.

If anyone is going back tomorrow and wants to pick up some stuff for me, I would rather pay YOU extra than waste tons of money in auction fees....

Cave is infamous for running out of shit in minutes. Look at everyhting they've sold through their website. EVERYTHING, has sold out in a matter of hours, not days.

I'll do a scan of the handout when I get all my stuff. I actually don't have one with me now. Perhaps Sven can hook up the thread w/ a pic of his. It's pretty cool, although rather cheap black & white on green paper.

Mmm, if that's the case, it probably runs on the original DDP hardware...
Batsugun Special Version anyone ? :o
