in response to Icarus question about raiden dx highscore. if i can get my playstation up and running, then ill try and post some scores. no luck with finding the dx jamma board at london casino arcade. i play a few games on raiden2 but quite frankly, ive played this game to death...almost for years (apart from the past 4-5years my playstation has being dead for) and it just bores me to find that after all this time, that no european shumper has posted an impressive highscore to challenge scores ive set over 4-5 years ago. back then, i was chasing japanese scores of 4million(ALPHA) 7million (BRAVO) and 21million (CHARLIE) mission.

I would love to challenge you, Mills, but I very rarely devote that kind of time to one game. I'm quite happy with what I have, though, and might return to RDX some day and go for the other difficulties. ^_-

You my friend should invest in a DexDrive.
This way it will allow you to transfer your save files from memory card to pc and hence allow for play in ePSXe in order to check scores, etc..
(plus it's really handy to protect your files)

Buy DexDrive Online

I don't mean to hock it, but honestly it's probably the cheapest bet right now for your case. Good luck finding your scores by the way, I'm pretty interested to see them myself.

:o Just wondering what game system are you playing this on? because i may consider purchasing one if my dead playstation refuses to come back to life. at present, i can only play Raiden2 at london arcades. oh and finally, are you using the 2 player (blue ship), or the 1 player (red ship)? i hope your not wasting time and energy using the red ship, in some vain attempt to prove something.

Well i'm using the red ship and i'm playing on psx (how the heck you play on psx using only blue ship?)

EDIT: Figured it out but..... i play way worse with blue ship

Look at my scores. I have always used red ship and I'm not wasting time =)

I have also 1cc:d the arcade version using the red ship, though my scores are obviously not as high as yours.

BTW, You can use ps2 for raiden DX; since it's been released in europe.

No new score, but I thought I'd just mention that last week I had the pleasure of watching somebody at HEY do 7.5 mio on Training Course (arcade difficulty, needless to say).

He one-lifed up to 1-3 then he died and subsequently lost concentration/motivation and bowed out at the boss.

Still, fucking awesome though, and pretty depressing (for me, that is).

:o If you want to 1cc charlie mission, then use the 1player red ship, but if your going for distance and highscore, its all about the 2player blue ship. all the top jap scores are using the blue ship. the RaidenDx insanity dvd, all the replays are using the 2player blue ship. naturally, if you dont wanna take my word for it, then that is your call. good luck

No, you're right.
I've been playing with blue ship recently and it is indeed much better.
Not that I've broken any records yet but it's just a matter of time.. ;)

In fact, I feel like having a go now..

Here's my replay:

Training Course - ARCADE Difficulty - 100% secrets - 4.4 mio

Don't expect anything too fancy. Everything is pretty good up until the fifth pyramid, then there's a lot of nervousness, bombing, and accidentally picking up a blue laser in the final stretch.

Still, it's my first replay, so I'm proud. :)

Thx @ Bloody for recording! ;)

I just got this game and noticed that after I get game over in stage 2 arcade mode alpha mission (with a very low score) the game racks up some kind of completion thing with bonus score and % and my score ends up being like 850,000. Can anyone explain this to me? (the game is the jpn version so I can't read anything). ThankS to anyone who can clear this up for me.

The first % is your enemy destruction rate.
The second one is the radar destruction rate.
Third one is a big mystery.

Basically the way to score big in this game is to unlock and destroy as many of the secret radars as possible.

You can check out the Raiden DX strategy guideor my video above, to see how it's done.

I guess the arcade machine counts as Arcade difficulty? I played the arcade machine and got this score on my first credit:

437,980 1-0 Training course 97.5%, Guts (?) ~67%

Yes, though the PCB has slightly different framerate (57 I think? Cant be bothered to check) which makes it slightly easier.

Edit: replaced 'it' with PCB

Getting the 7th secret pyramid in Training course is also different (easier) on the PCB. You can get it automatically when you get the 6th pyramid, without pulling off the train bonus, on Playstation that is a requirement. You can also manipulate the guts bonus on the PCB by keeping the start button depressed throughout play. Japanese players jam a toothpick in there to keep it permanently down.
