If you could only have one shmup from Working Designs
My question is what shmup so you consider best from the Working Designs shmups?
(sorry I didn't play enough Spellivator as a child)
RayStorm
RayCrisis
Thunderforce V
Sylpheed
I would have to say that Raystom in the best in my opinion. (I just got them all this week)
It's a shame that there are only four english shmups..( I think)

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Voted the best in '96!* Raycrisis has one basic flaw, it is simply too easy if you don't play it for score, almost pointless.CIT wrote:I used to not like Raystorm and Raycrisis, but they have since grown on me a lot. Raystorm is one of the best shooters of the 90s imo.
*There should be a thread by Oxtsu on best gamest (and then arcadia) shmups per year.

Either version of Thunder Force V has equivalent gameplay so hats off to TFV for me.
Anyway, the SS shooters that Working Designs planned to release were:
Thunder Force Gold Pack 1 and Hyper Duel collection
Thunder Force Gold Pack 2 and Blast Wind collection
Thunder Force V
Needless to say, even if they were released, they'd probably be going for $100-200.
I can say with confidence that although Soukyugurentai was considered, Battle Garegga was not; by the time the latter was released, Working Designs was just trying to finish up Magic Knight Rayearth and get out the closing SS door.Twiddle wrote:they had considered bringing over battle garegga and soukyugurentai but then they dropped them when the saturn was tanking

I'm always surprised that Working Designs gets credit for TFV. Unless I'm sadly mistaken, Working Designs didn't have anything to do with the Japanese version of TFV. And all they did with the American version was publish it. Technosoft was the brains behind the game, as they were with the entire TF series.
