SHMUPS in MUGEN!
I found some shmup characters for MUGEN, a 2D fighting game engine.
I found them here: http://16x16.port5.com/m.u.g.e.n/mugen.html
The shmup ships I found are the Vic Viper, the Styx from Thunder Force III, the R-9, and the Opa Opa. There are two bosses there too, Big Core and King Fossil from Darius, but they don't work properly in WinMUGEN.
I made some movies showing these SHMUP characters in action in MUGEN, and they are very close to their real counterparts.

MUGEN's original intent was as a shmup creation program.Alluro wrote:I found some shmup characters for MUGEN, a 2D fighting game engine.

Source of this information, please. I'm quite new to MUGEN (only got into it two months ago), so anything regarding MUGEN before that is unknown to me.Kiken wrote:MUGEN's original intent was as a shmup creation program.
@Shatterhand: Someone named Bane84 made those stages from those games as MUGEN levels. Go here: http://www.mugenguild.net/~bane84/
Pretty damn good job of creating them too.

Re: SHMUPS in MUGEN!
"Mugen" in Japanese means "infinite", therefore the latter would be the suggested pronunciation. However, M.U.G.E.N is a forgotten acronym, referring to the days when the engine was meant to emulate shooting games as opposed to fighting games as stated by Elecbyte, therefore the real meaning of M.U.G.E.N is and always will be unknown.Alluro wrote:Source of this information, please. Nice, Alluro. I was also thinking of that Polygenesis joke myself- and Super R-Type Bros. reminded me of that one other game Maridius.

Sure seems like it to me. A real Polygenesis would be a natural for this thing.Kiken wrote:MUGEN's original intent was as a shmup creation program.
