I hate any shooter that uses too many fookin buttons. 3 is more than enough. RSG for example takes the piss.
I hate Gradius 5's rotating levels and options for options that are useless in certain sections of the game. I like the rotating options that act as a barrier, but going backwards it does you no good at all. And I cannot control the options manually, it takes too much thinking.
I hate any boss's that have no life bar. And I hate boss's whose life bar deterorates slower towards the end. I think its one shot from blowing up and i'm and still there 5 mins later.
And EASY should mean most veteran shooting people can beat the game within 3 tries at most. EASY in some games just lowers the bullet count a tad and makes enemies slightly weaker.. but in G5 if you lose a life, your still fooked.
What do you hate in shmups/ shooters

Re: What do you hate in shmups/ shooters
It sucks when a game does not reset the score if you continue. At least SNS 3 bans your score from the list if you did continue during the run. It's a shame Border Down didn't do this- BD is an overall great game, but it's annoying when the high score list gets polluted with some junk scores made with more than 1 credit.
Blazing Lazers' variation on Twin Cobra's weapon change item is nice. You can shoot the powerup to stop it from changing or moving, then rush in to nab it.
If powerups move in the "Flying Shark" pattern, they should stick around awhile. Raiden III does this right. You don't have much of an excuse to risk all to nab a powerup, for it's not leaving right away.
Gradius' speed zones are a pain in particular- if you lose a life, it's even harder to come back when you're down to speed 1.

Kinect? KIN NOT.
Silvergun is more fun with seven buttons, however.BulletMagnet wrote:Technically RSG only uses 3 buttons.neorichieb1971 wrote:I hate any shooter that uses too many fookin buttons. 3 is more than enough. RSG for example takes the piss.
Here's the best controller to use with Mushi.
