Armed Police Batrider
Well, Strawman is regarded as an excellent ship to select as it has a lot of advantages - good speed; a good, fast firing bomb; homing lasers; wide shot - and for those reasons alone, most players pick Strawman for Advanced. The only problem (or plus, depending on your opinion) being that you cannot trigger the Garegga and Mahou ships, which makes the Advanced run a little easier and more focused.

Just for a bit of fun. Wasn't recording the run, unfortunately. ;_;
NORMAL COURSE
6,522,420 - Icarus - Stage 6 - Strawman (A) / Silver Sword (B) / Gain (C)
Stage Order: Sky High, Airport, Sewer

Went on a boss milking spree and took a surprising amount from all the secret bosses. Accessed almost all extra bosses except Hayatemaru. Credit ended in the section before the Rivals, died in the most idiotic way possible, by a lone bullet. And I would have had all three Rivals to fight as well. ;_;
For reference, the two scores below this were ALLs. The 5.7mil run was an attempt to skip Tsumujimaru, with <Strawman (A) / Bornnam (B) / Silver Sword (B)>, and fought only Blunt at the end (no Bashi, no Tsumuji and no Hayate); the 5.4mil one was an experiment to see how high I could score with <Strawman Only>, and fought both Blunt and Envy at the end.
Over 7mil definitely possible with a team and serious boss milking. About 6mil tops for a lone Strawman run with optimal milking.

Hmm... normal mode. That sounds like it might be fun. Can the rank crank out as crazy as in Advanced?Icarus wrote:Just for a bit of fun. Wasn't recording the run, unfortunately. ;_;

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
Although the rank system isn't as pronounced in Normal Course, it can still go crazy if you do the wrong things. Some minor rank control techniques are required to keep the game from getting unmanageable.landshark wrote:Hmm... normal mode. That sounds like it might be fun. Yeah, I found that out. Had a 5.5 million going into the bosses of stage 6(5).Icarus wrote:Although the rank system isn't as pronounced in Normal Course, it can still go crazy if you do the wrong things. Then envy showed up and I managed to lose both my lives, dying stupidly with bombs in stock both times. I forgot to write my score down too, was too angry at the bomb deaths.
I gave boss rush a few goes too. My god it's hard compared to the actual bosses in the game. They have the rank maxed out. Grubby is more of a whore than usual. Even a few of the normally easy bosses were mean. I was afraid to leach.

so i decided to fire up normal course thinking "hey maybe it'd be easier to score in this"

scratch that. fuck you, game! missed ~700k from milking play because i killed fuckbucket mk2 too soon. maybe i should pick up an extend at full. disappointed that i didn't get to trigger the extra two bosses. maybe i need a batrider ship to do that. i could possibly get 7m with a strawman, car-pet, and gain team makeup.

All Advanced Course scores from this week's Batrider competition have been added to the main table. Those with entries already on the original table have been checked and updated where appropriate.
Man, that took a while. -_-;;

I think emulation is good enough for Batrider. Of course the PCB would be desirable, and it is very cheap to get a Japanese one at the moment, but if you don't have the resources then its not necessary. All you need is a good stick/pad for your PC and you're set. ^_^Rob wrote:I need to get an A-million score when I'm in the mood to revisit this one. Wish I had a supergun, but not quite worth the hassle.
I think you could get an A score given the progress you made in the playing week. My strategies are now available for viewing on the 'Tube which should help you a bit.

The only real difference between the MAME and PCB versions of these games is that the MAME versions have no flickering or invisible bullets.
Neither does the Saturn version, but there's no slowdown.

Ahh, thanks for reminding me to pull the Normal Course scores off the team forum. ^_^Smraedis wrote:Big scoreboards look nice

I'm sure I can do better than that now ^_^
Done!
Batrider is quite a good game to get into for Raizing newcomers, as its not as complex as Garegga or Great Mahou, or rigid as Bakraid. Rank control isn't too daunting in Batrider, and is actually recommended in creating a good strategy for scoring too.Edge wrote:Yeah, Batrider was quite fun. I liked Raizing games to play and just blow stuff up. Never took the time and effort to find out what the hell is going on. And I didn't find the rank control that annoying, so I might return to this game and try to break my score.
For what its worth, I'm using a Saturn-style USB pad and I've never had problems with comfort or control, and they are recommended if you can find them.Rob wrote:Yep, my usable controller experienced an unfortunate accident on Sunday. I do not blame APB.
Or go with a stick if you prefer. ^_-
