Collect second score multipling angel during lull before boss fight. Kill boss ASAP, without causing second power up angel to appear

Activate second power up angel.... ???? sometime during first part of level two?
Nope. The count resets after the level.

EDIT: Also, even if you happen to be holding a charge when you pick up the multiplier, as long as you don't discharge your weapon for the duration of the angel's effect the next angel you activate will be a power angel.

EDIT2: Dunno whether the value of the score multiplier you get for shunning angels carries over to the next level or not. I'd guess not.

EDITredux: The shun multiplier does carry over!

Ok, it's enough for today. Time to go to bed, tomorrow is a new day :) Let's see if I can beat that score, it will be hard :D

Got a Rank B at this run :) How the heck the game ranks you anyway?

3rd credit ever plunked into this game - I have a feeling autofire makes this game incredibly easier.

Landshark - Super Buffet - 5,370,560 - 6 (boss) - Peplos

If you are playing with Peplos, yes, it makes it a lot easier indeed :)

In the other hand, try to just fire the "rapid fire" of Peplos without autofire.. you need to smash the button like crazy. For some reason, the rapid fire of Peplos is a lot harder to do than of the other ships.

Arg...so much to love about this game, but I HATE when it decides to suddenly go "memorizer" on you, especially in the later levels, and toss stuff at you which you have zero chance of dodging if you haven't seen it before...I had enough of that in Pulstar. Oh well, here's another entry for Team Loser:

BulletMagnet - Team Loser - 2,228,170 - 4 - Aryustailm

No autofire on my version of MAME, so the Peplos is more or less off-limits for me...hopefully I'll be able to improve on this with the other ships.

After some practice, I gave it another go with a different ship. Took a while to get adjusted to the slower speed, but I did get a bit better at milking some of the bosses (especially stage 3's). I have no idea how to milk stage 5's boss though, assuming you can.

The Coop - Team Old Schoolers - 18,083,450 - All - Dino 246

This little ship made stage 6 a hell of a lot easier. It didn't make it easy, but it made it easier than the helacious dodging-fest I had to endure with Peplos.

By the way... what's up with the unseen killers at the end of stage 6's boss? I was blown up by literally nothing. The violet star-like shots weren't near me, and the little nossle that launches a bunch of pods for milking wasn't firing. My ship just simply... exploded.

You just shoot the missiles and enemies for three or so rounds. Not very lucrative.

I know, this is bs. Makes it really hard to milk, key spot as it is.

As I stated before, there's a sprite limitation with Neo hardware that can only support a certain number of objects on screen at once - any more and stuff either flickers like crazy, or vanishes completely. For example, doing the yumechan trick on the first boss, and letting the screen fill up with powerups causes the bullets to vanish. Same thing with the stage6 bit at the end - too much stuff wanting to be on screen, and as a result some of it is invisible.

At least in Garegga the bullets don't automagically disappear, unlike Blazing Star. ^_-

So that's why I keep dying on that stupid boss! Bah >=|

Also, does anyone know how to predict/control rate-up angel appearances? It would save a lot of headaches.

You'll use ANY excuse or occasion on this one, won't you? :P You really ought to see a therapist or something... ;)

Anyways, bit of an improvement for my score...

BulletMagnet - Team Loser - 3,407,770 - 4 - Dino 246

Stage 4 really is where the game gets cheesy as heck...I can one-life the first 3 stages with few problems, but once I get to 4 I end up wanting to break a controller (and the lack of extends doesn't help either). Oh well, for the rest of the week I won't have access to a computer with MAME on it, so this is probably my last shot at this round...though something tells me Team Loser will be alright without me. ;)
