Guess I'll post mine, too:

Normal:

Ghegs - 2,463,344,850 - Kim2 - 3140 - ALL

Extreme:

Ghegs - 598,660,090 - Kim2 - 1405 - 2-2

Rather crappy scores, yes. Extreme is very fun though, I should get back into it.

Not sure on the last four digits of the score and the coins, i've also sold the game so...
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.

Extreme:

Ghegs - 878,446,800 - Kim2 - 1726 - 3-1

Extreme mode is absolutely nerve-wrecking. It was my first time into 3-1 in Extreme and to my horror I discovered that even the parts of the maze that have to be shot off in order to proceed release suicide bullets. Also, I had several promising runs with Kuga1 but couldn't get past 2-1, even the 1-2 boss has very tight patterns in this mode.

Here's my abysmal score...

Normal:
ArrogantBastard - 987,121,200 - Kuga2 - 9,258 - 2-2

I'm not sure about the x8 score thingy, because when I look at the "Items Collected", it usually means the x8 bonus, right? If not, please elaborate? I'm just starting to get into this game.

Here's my score - gives the newbies something to aim at ;)

858,531,770 - stage 3-2 - 1432

Character is the guy in the hat - I'm afraid I don't know his name or what version he is, as I don't read Japanese. He was shooting 3 lightning balls with fire held from the front only, instead of front and back if that helps. How do you increase the 8x stuff? Is it length of time grazing bullets, something to do with how fast you kill things?

Tried grazing bullets properly. Much harder. Lost all 3 lives in 3-1 hitting walls forgetting they were there.

The 'items collected' is how many total coins you've collected. The 'x8 action' is how many coins collected while in x8 tension. The proximity of the player to some object on-screen will determine the multiplier/tension ( x1-x8 ).

Hyuga ...1 or 2, can't recall

bloodflowers wrote:How do you increase the 8x stuff? Is it length of time grazing bullets, something to do with how fast you kill things?
When destroying an enemy it will produce more coins depending on your multiplier/tension. Basically we're trying to be in x8 range for the most time possible to get increased coins and x8 action bonus. Also, the faster we can progress, the more enemy will appear and for bosses the time bonus is increased.

Thanks. :)

Niigi is by _far_ the best character to use in Extreme mode. I can't even get past the 3-1 boss with any other character. The shield just means everything.

In normal mode (standard settings), I've 1CCed it with every character with both shiki modes. I still can't get the hang of using Kim for high scores; I haven't even broken 3000M with him yet.

BTW to all, I wrote the FAQ for Shikigami 2 that's on Gamefaqs. If you have any comments or suggestions for it, fire away. :D

Not to intrude on this topic, but since I got the game recently might I suggest making separate score tables for each character, as the game itself does? As it is about all you're likely to see are more Kim and Kuga scores...I think it'd be more interesting to see what the players here can do with the harder-to-use characters. Just a suggestion though.

That doesn't sound like too bad of an idea, but... Perhaps it could be simply a "by character" list--That is, one entry per character. I wouldn't mind it otherwise, but, it would make the first post huge. 8)

I'm totally going to get in on this action this weekend, by the way.

One entry per player seems a bit too much of a restriction for me, but maybe 3-5 entries per character would be fair...I don't think it's necessary to split chars up by the "1" and "2" settings for their shiki attack. Again, though, it's just a suggestion.

Excellent; Thank you, Plasmo!

Truly an excellent idea, BulletMagnet. Certainly an incentive to play through with more/all of the characters (instead of simply the high-scorers), now that I think about it. This will be a good thing. :D

I really, really look forward to playing tonight or tomorrow. I'm going to submit a million scores; all of them bad.

You're on! :D

Tonight was Border Down (unplanned), but tomorrow, it'll be all about Shikigami no Shiro II (well, and, maybe some Psyvariar 2). We'll just see about whose painstaking score is more pitiful!

(I suppose that a good and bad part is that as it is, both of us should be able to place on the upcoming character rankings as well as the extreme mode ranking, no matter our score...)

I've got your scores, right here! :D

(Remember what I mentioned previously... They're not necessarily astounding!)

I played a whole bunch today. In fact, that's why the scores for Niigi and Roger are so weird; By that point (and currently), I was starting to get sleepy, so I couldn't focus enough to play for score, and it was mostly a straight shooting fest. I was doing a lot of "point-blanking" with Roger, I think (I mention it because I've been hearing that term a lot, lately). Nothing like getting x8 for destroying enemies by buzzing said enemies themselves. :P

No bombs used for any of these. By the way, I think that I might be getting a little scary. When I started up an extreme game (to finish up this party), I found myself somewhat going on auto, shooting everything and cutting a clear (and smooth, and fast) path through the fields of bullets, only to emerge out in some clear spot somewhere, thinking "Whoa. Did I actually make it through that?" Then again, it is only the first level, and it probably still is "luck." 8)

Tomorrow, I think that I might try playing with more of a focus on longevity (and simple shoosting), as in, bringing the x8 frenzy down to "one cup of coffee" level.

PS- I'll bet that video above RF is nice. I should really fix this other TV!
