if you would be so kind, play stage 5 in maniac and watch the 4th pattern of the midboss. Does it slowdown?
Not that I could tell.

Odd that it says (c) 2005. Maybe they have had this game lying around for a while but released Ibara instead? Which is odd.

I think it's more like Two Insect Princesses/Insect Princesses Two (as in Look Who's Talking Too).

Hopefully they spent more time on it than with Pink Sweets.

Oh I get it
I think it's more crucial that the right people worked on it. Cave can knock up a great game in a short time with the right people.

I'd be curious to find out what the development times have been like for each game. Back when they had one game a year or every couple years I wonder if they spent more time on each or if now they just have a bigger staff. Pink Sweets came out a couple months ago and we already get a new one next month?

I wouldn't doubt that they do at least some work on more than one title at a time.

It was said they made Progear in 6 months. They probably have two teams now.

It's pretty clear which games Ikeda works on, and which ones he doesn't. How much actual coding he does these days, who knows.

Yeah, the Japanese work insanely long hours from what I've learned. Regardless, pumping out a game like Progear in 6 months is incredible. Thay are geniuses :D

A japanese friend said to me that the character designer of the new Mushihimesama maybe is Haccan, famous in japan for his Graphic Novels..

I don't think the cover of this one is really offensive aesthetically. Sure, the rendering is very airy and flowery, and there's a quasi-sexy girl with abnormally large boobs and an overrendered skirt, but there's been worse.

And by worse I don't mean 'more naked', I mean more deliberately-marketed pictures of animesque main characters that any no-sex (not a value judgement, statement of fact: the difference between having been with a woman, and having not been with a woman) japanese teenager can... grow fond of. No blemishes, no characterization besides that suggested by the fashion design, in fact nothing especially human about them. This isn't very far from what I am describing, but at least the skillful execution sorta makes more promises on characterization than the game will probably deliver on, of course.

I don't have to be a prude (I'm not. How can I be? I'm not wearing any pants right now.) to realize that this is the marketing strategy, and I don't think one should disregard such things in the games he plays.

The old era of giant robots and spikes is just a different facet of the same thing, I wouldn't take one over the other. Genuine art direction that isn't supposed to be crowd-pleasing baseness we haven't seen in vertical shooters for ages.

Where the fuck are all these Americans working all these hours? I can't speak for entire nations, but after living and visitng the states for quite some time now, I can honestly say that the US portion of that is complete bullshit. I work downtown. Besides one of our competitors that also trade Asian markets and the security guards, Nobody is in this fucking building after 18:00.... half are gone by 17:00. Everytime I go back to Texas to visit friends, they all get off work at 17:00 (except for one, that works for her dad).

You can't find an office in Japan that's less than half full before 20:00. Just doesn't happen. Whether or not they're doing actual work or drinking tea, smoking, and playing freecell is another argument, but nobody goes home at 17:00. I think these days the standard is a 9:00 to 19:00 or 20:00, and then busy times having to stay to 22:00 or 23:00.

EDIT: I wonder if they average in Japanese holidays. Worth noting, there are about 20 national holidays on the Japanese calendar, and roughly 15 will fall on work days. How many are in the US? 4?

For what it's worth, the average Japanese makes dogshit considering the time they put into work, not to mention the 1 (sometimes 2) hour commute to work.

For the record, the first reports of Galuda II's release date were false. Might be out, but there's yet to be a location test. :/
