Its on every game forum i have come across :)

I am playing: (both PS2)

Raiden III

I love this game. Glad i got it. Never seen it in the arcade
and took a chance. Its Raiden and its COOL!

Ibara

Yikes! This game is hard, really hard for me. I will persist
with it as i have read other shooters are similiar in gameplay
and want to try them also.

Cheers

Well, you couldn't find it here because it's a mere excuse to spam. And you just know that spammers LOVE threads like this one, and forums are really prone to spam.
I was kinda relieved that there wasn't a thread like this one here, but I guess it was only a matter of time after all.

Some people do like me if they feel the urge to let the world know what SHMUP they're playing ATM. See sig ;)
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

I just got a Hori Real Arcade VF stick for my ol' Saturn, so to give it a proper workout it's been lots of:

Batsugun

Also, a couple of months ago I set up a jDC and a dedicated monitor in my computer room (so I can play something while the GF is watching the boob tube). My go-to game has been:

Zero Gunner 2

Dragon Blaze and Ibara are taking up my free time right now. Always been meaning to really get into DB so trying to get a half decent score.

Ibara is almost getting to the point of going in the bin, I haven't come close to my best score in weeks :?

Ibara is still really, really hard (and I still hate chaining Stage 1), so I went back to Einhander. I'm playing for score and trying to make a prettier no-miss replay.

As for other games, I've started playing Tobal 2 after realizing that I could sort of read that Japanese guide I bought a long time ago...

DOJ - I can chain the first stage, all of stage 2 except for the bit between the sub boss and the first half of 3. Working on score/1cc.

Homura - score/1cc as well. I haven't played seriously since I posted my last score and with a little work I'll easily be able to click past twe and Rando on the high score chart.
Feedback will set you free.

Haven't really been gaming that much at all, actually.

I do play the odd round of Game Tengoku, but nothing that serious.

You can change the difficulty in the options menu I think.

Usually cave games don't get drastically different when the difficulty changes, though I've not tried mushi on easy or hard.

Still working on a No Miss 1st Loop run of Gradius II for PC-Engine Super-CD. It's certainly more difficult than the arcade version in several areas (like Disrupt/Keeper's Core).

Battle Garegga rarely leaves the Saturn, but it doesn't get turned on much.

I play a lot of Raiden on normal, and a fair amount of Raiden II on easiest setting (still tears me up, 2,9XX,XXX).

Anyone else played Godfather around here? I am on my third playthrough (love it), and decided to do the "hardest" thing first, and take out all the families without doing any unrequired missions. As soon as I got control of the character, I proceeded to drive to the "family compounds" gained around 32 levels doing it (13 for the first... wow), and now subsequently made the game easier.

Judgement Silversword.

Honestly, there's no point in anymore handheld shmups being made. After that game... no. That is perfection as far as shmupping on the go is concerned. Nothing else will ever come close.

I'm interested in the game due to all the praise, but people always throw in the word 'handheld...' is it good despite or because of the format?

Closing in on my old Garegga score...I think Plasmo is perhaps beatable before summer is over, rando's will take some time ;)

It works for handhelds because of the "rush". The levels are like... at most 30-40 seconds long, and there's 30 levels. The game also gives you a lot of extends. So its a VERY easy shmup to pick up and play, and if you fuck up and die, no biggie as the game is VERY forgiving.

If it was on a home console it would still be a damn fine shmup, no question about that. But it really shines on a handheld given what it does.
