Gatekeeping is ALWAYS a good thing

Anything from run & guns to modern RPGs, what else do you play?

It's been a while, but I recall playing Crazy Taxi with the first gen (gray) DualShock via converter without problem. It was very casual playing, mind. But nothing about handling it this way seemed terribly wrong to me.

Taxis still exist? Should be Crazy Uber now.

By modern standards, the Crazy Taxi gameplay loop could (maybe) be seen as a minigame in a larger open world game, but why start making a entire modern big studio project based around one little minigame concept?

Do I even get to save Jodie Foster? Why do I want to be a taxi driver?

Why?
It's the only unreleased game I'm genuinely excited for. If they try and sell it for $70, they can forget about it. As a $40 with the replayability of an arcade game, then I'm totally fine with that. One of the modes seems to be scooped wholesale from Yakuza Pirates in Hawaii, but that's a fun mode.
I suspect they will try and get away with $70.

Apparenlty the B-Roll showcased to the press had that free roaming mode as the main game mode, and people who went to the Q&A with the game's director said there was also an arcade mode that was "exactly like the first game", but not sure if i can trust what they said yet.

There's also this picture being shared on arcade oriented discord channels

If its real, my theory is that all the official screenshots shared so far on the official site and digital platforms are from that arcade version (even the ui is different), and that the game will probably be out later this year on Sega's ALLS arcade hardware including only the West Coast map.

Sorry to hear about the Twitter ban thing, I guess they may have made you a favor by releasing you from that hellhole but it still sucks

I don't really get why players on this game would deviate from the default settings and make their own ruleset even though it's an arcade game that is inherently balanced around that default. It already tracks score metrics on its own, unlike speedrunning random games where everything is arbitrary and where custom categories and rulesets make more sense. Perhaps I'm used to shmups and its knowledgeable community, whereas more normie-friendly games and aesthetics like Crazy Taxi attract a different, looser crowd.
