Hi all,
I recently got my first candy cab and I had some trouble finding a decent autofire solution that also had remapping. Since I'm using a Taito F3 multi I wanted the ability to remap and since I have other PCBs I wanted something flexible. I wanted a Reco PCB (and eventually found one, thankfully) but it took a lot of searching since those are discontinued. So I wanted to make a thread cataloguing the available options for autofire for those interested.
Obviously, if you're using software emulation (or MiSTERcade) then this doesn't really apply, but for everyone else this should be pretty useful. I beleive most superguns have built in auto, but if yours doesnt, scope this thread! If you know any other solutions, please share them and I can update this post.
Option 1: RECO PCB - DISCONTINUED

A great device with remapping, multiple autofire settings (30, 20, 15, 12, 10, 7.5 - synchronized or not) and the ability to map and remap all of the buttons in JAMMA. You can even wire a CPS-2 kick harness directly into it and use those buttons for PCBs that don't. So you can add multiple autofire rates to a game, for example. You can save and load multiple profiles for each player, map coin to a macro or hold, program buttons on the fly, and lock button configs for touirnaments and whatnot. All in all its pretty versatile but it doesn't go lower than 7.5hz (pour one out for Gun Frontier players), there isn't a way to modify how the autofire works (i.e. how many off vs on frames) and I dont think you can set a macro for adjusting autofire rate so your garegga setup may not be ideal. The worst part is, it is discontinued so good luck finding one anyways!
Option 2: R-03N (Rosanne) - SOLD OUT

Duefuku's master work. This can do basically everything the Reco can (autofire, remapping) but you can also set up macros, a rapidfire adjustment button (for Garegga, for example), and you can specify the exact ON/OFF timing for rapid fire. You can even assign command input macros and it can hold up to 8 profiles.

From KVClab in Akiba, these are two autofire circuits (one appears to be sync'd to the game input, one external) that I don't know much about. Elena needs to be soldered, it looks like Jenny requires some rewiring as well. Not available on their website anymore.

Hey, a product thats actually in stock/ available!
Coming in three flavours, these are buttons with autofire circuits built into them. The Kikuchi-kun "rainbow" has the autofire circuit built into the button and seems like it can switch between 15 and 30hz and it displays it with a light up LED. I'm not sure HOW you change the ROF, but it says its possible. Needs to be soldered.
The Wein-kun Type-RR is more advanced and includes a button shaped rotary dial so you can daisy chain it and control the rate of fire on the fly with the dial between 8.5, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 shots/second. Also requires soldering.
The last is the Dash. This just wires up normally, no soldering so easy to pop in and play! The downside? Only one rate of fire and its 20hz and its not synced.
Obviously, none of these are remappers, so you'd need to split a button input out to one of these (or daisy chain it)

another option thats actually in stock! And cheap, too. Seems to support 6 buttons. Can do 30hz, 15hz and 7.5hz. Seems like a pretty easy setup with wire crimping and some soldering. This is actually just one of many rapidfire boards that BEEP Sells and FUU makes. Obviously, no remapping here, you'd need to split a button to duplicate it, so you better love the setup!

Requires soldering, and only 5, 10 or 15hz Autofire rates, but seems pretty simple and cheap! Also comes with a switch to choose the Autofire rates.

Long discontinued, but apparently a decent option. I can't find a photograph of one on the internet. Allowed up to 30hz.

A simple autofire device you can set up yourself with some basic components and some rewiring. You'll need to split cables if you want multiple buttons for the same function. There is a slight pause in fire at 30hz it seems?

No remapping, button A and B only, but you have nobs to adjust rate of fire. Seems long discontinued but maybe you can contact JNX and ask. In order to map multiple buttons to the same function with different rates of fire, you will need to get creative.
Option 11: Retro Electronik JAMMA Autofire V2 - DISCONTINUED

Allows you to set an autofire rate of up to 50 shots per sec(!), no remapping, simply on or off on each button so again, you'll need to split wires or daisy chain.

RECO absolutely does go below 7.5Hz, but only in synchronized. The synchronized and asynchronous autofire rates are different. The asynchronous ones listed here are correct, but I don't know the exact math for the synchronized auto mode.
Obviously, it's based on the game's refresh rate and exact autofire rates will differ for each game because of that, but I believe you should basically get, assuming a 60Hz refresh rate, approximately 30, 15, 10, 6, something slow, and something super slow. Again these are guesses, but it's close enough. I think it might also depend on which version you have, but this is how it behaves on my 4.2. RGB will know exactly what they are.

I made a small autofire solution with a Raspberry Pico which is also able to sync to the video sync, though it's kind of hard to test the precision of that.
Is anyone interested in that, or is it redundant compared to the solutions listed in the OP? Pico PCBs are extremely cheap and usually very easy to source locally, so it's a nice cheap and compact solution for implementing inside a control panel, though it requires some soldering.

I actually made something similar to that. It's kind of horrible. As in, it works, but it's not reliable. It beats out tapping manually of course, but it does have that DIY feel.
The raspberry pico solution works much better (and might honestly be even easier to source parts for)
