A while ago someone posted a link to an official Neo Geo survey in a gaming group. By the time I clicked on the link, the survey was already closed and I didn't have an opportunity to provide some feedback, so I decided to start a discussion here.
I assume you guys have been purchasing games from the ACA NeoGeo Selection as they include shmups. When I think about the target audience of these games, I can think of groups such as retrogamers, 2D fighting fans, shmup fans, etc. In my case, I would like to have physical copies of Neo Geo shmups that I could play on my current generation consoles - despite having lots of old games and consoles, Neo Geo physical media is not in my plans.
What do you guys think about mixing games of such different genres into collections? How does it affect sales? It would make a lot more sense to me having "ACA Neo Geo Fighting Selections" with Fatal Fury and KoF games or "ACA Neo Geo Shooting Selections" with Last Resort and Blazing Star - it sucks buying a collection when I am only interested in 1 out of 10 games, but maybe that's just me being picky.
Volumes 9 and 10 have recently been announced and they don't include any shmups (only Metal Slug 3). What good Neo Geo shmups are missing from the currently existing volumes and should be included in future releases?

I believe this was a deliberate marketing choice on their part. Because everyone WOULD want all of them collated, but they can milk more out of individual mixes.

It was a deliberate and really frustrating marketing choice.

The Neo-Geo MVS stg title of Brinkgner/IronClad from game developer/publisher Saurus is worthy of the Neo-Geo inclusive stg list -- I have a reproduction MVS cart of Brinkgner/IronClad myself and it's an interesting stg title using pre-rendered sprites (in-line with Pulstar & Blazing Star's usage of 2D pre-rendered sprites overall presentation/vibe/aestethics).
There's something inherently awesome and satisfying about playing on the real Neo-Geo MVS arcade hardware itself with a proper candy cab or supergun setup (that you can't get with modern-day gaming hardware) in that you can play the various MVS carts in either mono-phonic output or true stereo sound output (assuming your candy cab is capable of accepting stereo input from an MVS arcade motherboard setup, of course). In going the supergun route, stereo output using a pair of "passive-powered" bookshelf speakers rated up to 100 watts @ 8 ohms is possible/doable if the supergun is properly audio attenuated from the"get-go" -- audio coming from a jamma arcade pcb is already "amplified" as it is.
----------
There's the 3rd-party released 1-in-161 Neo-Geo MVS multi-game cart that has all of the official 1st-party released Neo-Geo MVS stg titles available "on tap" if it needed be -- that'd be the cheapest & easiest way to enjoy 'em on real Neo-Geo MVS hardware indeed.
---------
The other non-Hamster ACA titles of indie Neo-Geo MVS stg titles on the Switch are Razion EX, Fast Striker EX and Super XYX -- the action platfomer of Gunlord EX is another one on the Switch as well (it got an Neo-Geo MVS release besides Fast Striker, Neo XYX and Razion all as separate Neo-Geo MVS carts courtesy of NGDev Team themselves based out of Germany).
The indie Neo-Geo MVS cart of Kraut Busters (Metal Slug clone) by the NGDev Team still hasn't received a proper Switch port as of yet. However, the NGDev Team did release a dedicated Switch stg title by the name of Gunvein (it has never been released as a Neo-Geo MVS cart whatsoever).

There have been physical Neo Geo collections on previous platforms as well as all sorts of mini consoles in recent years, I'm sure we'll see one again. The ACA a la carte model is good, but it's still another publisher taking a cut.

I'd buy all of these if they just had more save states. I can live with their janky one-slot system for an $8 download, but I can't do it for a $40 cart.
