Garou: City of the wolves
Re: the new Garou, OK, it seems it is a case of chumocracy at work. I wonder if SNK can stand losing the 1k fans still hovering around who will not buy the game because of these inclusions. The tone of the article and the comments below really feel like pandering to a crowd of 50 decrepit cats, tome. I definitely need to stop reading press releases on videogames.

Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
About a year or so after Tekken 8 came out I decided to start trying to play it seriously. Got to Fujin rank with Bryan Fury, then season 2 dropped and Bamco shat the bed with explosive force, leaving behind naught but a coiled serpent of stinking filth, almost as if Eve's sin had been made manifest.
Maybe I'll come back for season 3 if it's been fixed.
I tried some of the new Fatal Fury game and was pleasantly surprised, but not enough to commit to a purchase, at least not at $60.

Mutant Fighter/Death Brade (Data East, 1991)
Shameless self-promotion: the Mutant Fighter/Death Brade squib is up. It discusses a "fantasy wrestling" game by Data East that had a respectful impact, even if DECO released it during the SFII craze. I am not sure that we have a wrestling thread, but I do briefly cite a few good arcade wrestling games from the 1980s in the squib. There have been a few more wrestling games after this brilliant if somewhat flawed title (...hey, it's DECO!), but I am happy to mention them if someone wants to discuss the topic, as always.

Hey, but what's new about VF5 R.E.V.O. compared to previous versions?

Gameplay-wise, Revo is a big balance patch, same as R and Final Showdown. No new characters, but existing characters get new moves, existing moves have been tweaked, so on and so forth.
Revo also has a graphical refresh, and the game was ported to some recent version of the engine they use for the Yakuza games. There are also some unique cosmetics, like being able to use the UI from older VF games.
But aside from this, it's mostly a way to get Virtua Fighter onto newer consoles.

Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
New VF revision like Despatche said, with rollback netcode on PC.
It will soon receive a free upgrade to REVO World Stage, which will add a single-player mode supposedly similar to VF4 and 5's Quest mode and training mode improvements. REVO WS will eventually also launch on PS5, XS and SW2 with rollback and crossplay.
If you like VF at all the PC version of vanilla REVO that's available right now is a must buy, even if the WS upgrades and/or the console ports turn out to be shite.

Do I need VF5 on PC if I already have both versions on 360? I'm not bothered about online play, 'cos I'm shit.

Re: Fighting Game Hype Thread
The whole point of REVO is the new gameplay revision and good netcode, so if you don't care about online play I'd say vanilla REVO as it exists today is worse than the 360 games, though that might flip when the free World Stage update adds the new single-player expansions.
