Prelude to the Apocalypse
Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
Action movies were always better than anime! A world ruled by Trump and anime feels like a match made in hell.

They will absolutely let it go, the same way they let his multiple unilateral military strikes on Iran go, and will let the closure of the only hospital within several hours' drive of them go.
Daddy's cocksuckers aren't here to "hold him to account". They're here to suck Daddy's cock.
Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
I honestly don't like hearing about things like how Trump is going to end the world, or how Hollywood has gone too woke, or movie theaters are heading for extinction and that streaming is the future of movies, or that anime will triumph over Hollywood. If all that is true, then this world truly has gone to shit. No wonder why everyone on this forum is so damn negative all the time. But you know what? I don’t care what Terminator, Tron, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, The Matrix, Mega Man, and Mission: Impossible taught me. Let this world be in the hands of A.I. for all I care. Because A.I. has done a lot more for me than humanity will ever do.

naaaah, that's ordinary Internet People stuff. The only time I've been depressed was March 2016, and that's only because I thought things could get better a lot sooner than I thought they would have.
Looking back I was greedy and naive. My original accelerationism/technological hypotheses were correct. Real change can only happen through massive massive misery that gets people to fight back, or a material change in our conditions like how the invention of the internal combustion engine changed things. We're getting to as close as bad as things can get, and as they replace people with machines in the coming decade or so, life will very rapidly trend toward heaven or hell on earth.
It's not going to be subtle from the perspective of your day to day life. Years where nothing happens will be followed by years where everything happens.
Existential horror is part and partial of existing. We all only have a very limited amount of power over our reality, and if it's too much just take a vacation in a fantasy world. If you spend enough time there, it's the real world that starts to feel like a fantasy world.
Works for the fascists, doesn't it? ......

oi, I was talking about reporters who constantly annoy him with questions, not MAGA punishing him and the republicans with actual consequences. MAGA's hopeless and too far gone.
I'm glad you can hold on to your hatred of the fascists. I'm still unable to see them as people so it's impossible for me to do the same. It's hard to get angry at wild animals with rabies or giant pits of acid sitting in the ground.
..... of course I'm smart enough to not listen to them talk or watch a second of FOX News clips.... Those.... do make me very very angry very very quickly.... so I guess this 'no contact' thing is a cheatcode, and I actually do hate them as much as you do, I just try to avoid triggering those emotions and have let them dull since the Iraq war bullshit....
Letting the worst people on the planet whisper in your ear is like rolling your brain around on broken glass...
.... anyway, some political journey story time...
Even when I was a small child, I always felt there was something unnatural and wrong about Bill Clinton when he was running for president. Phoney compliments, pretending to care about people... it was all transparently fake to me. (And I think it's also obvious to the people who dislike democrats but not for rational intellectual reasons. The fake inauthentic kindness that predators love to use.)
With adult knowledge of adult things.... I realized he was a 'fuckboi'. The kind of guy who only cares about having sex and absolutely nothing about anything else.
The fans of Trump remind me of the women who like Bill. He tells them they're the best, like they're pretty and got the biggest boobs or whatever and they blush at compliments, of all things. By yet another fuckboi that's probably even more sociopathic and evil. Who only takes and never gives anything but empty words and dreams back.
Anyway, another youtube quote:
"My mother always taught me growing up that Richard Dawkins was "an evil, hateful atheist."
Now that he's on the anti-trans bandwagon, she's a big fan who think he's just a little rough around the edges is all.
She completely changed her opinion of him from "he's a full blown evil moron" to "nobody is totally perfect" just by validating her hate.
God this world is sh*t."

My response still stands. If anything the diehards will make a bigger show of it before pretending it never happened than the media will.

Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
Just out of interest, do Americans want the next President to continue these current agenda's or do they want the polar opposite?
Do you think the next election will be about someone who tells the truth from the get go or someone who gets into power via deception and secret agenda's?
Because to me this is a problem, not just in the USA per se. I suppose it depends on what messes need cleaning up obviously, but i'm sure the electorate will want transparency. I suppose its a stupid question for Trump because he still has his supporters although i'm not entirely sure what those supporters get out of him unless you're rich. There isn't enough rich people to win the vote on their own. If the lobbying power is more powerful than the vote, i'm not sure its even worth voting except for the face that sits in the seat.
I know 2 Trump supporters and I have conversations with them with me being anti Trump. I tell them, what about the farmers? What about tourism? What about those cities being hit by floods, wild fires and hurricanes? Don't just look where Trump is pointing, look the other way and see the collateral damage. Whilst they sympathize they think its for the best anyway.
I watched a video about Philidelpia last night about the trash. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5hfc5pRESs
This is not a picture I expect from the streets of a major city in the USA. People are crying over grocery prices as well.
I keep hearing the $ is crashing, but against the Yen and £ it isn't. Must be something else i'm not seeing.
I have never seen as much spin as I have in recent months on news networks. The spin is incredible. Even those in government that get on camera seem like puppets you can almost see the strings.

Geez, Ruidoso New Mexico is underwater now. Mother nature is at war with the USA.
Can't believe it.
Trump said Texas was one in a 100 year event, Nature had other plans.

Americans aren't uniquely evil or good, we're just humans.
Like I always point out, leftist policy is wildly popular when you poll for it. Things like raising the minimum wage, free childcare, free meals for grade-school students, universal medicare, taxing billionaires, etc. Any single policy has 60 to 90% support among the public, and those opposed always number only around 20 to 30%.
However billionaires hate us and want us all to die for them, so. They gaslight us in various ways. There's not enough to go around. There's nobility in suffering. Women should let Cuomo grab their ass as much as he wants, they were asking for it. Scapegoats, clown bullshit, and every other distraction under the sun. It's all cradle-to-grave brainwashing, and the generations locked into a relationship with TV are defenseless against it.
If people did hate themselves and wanted to suffer more and die, then there wouldn't be any need for the WWF show and all this pretense. They could save their money and rule us directly. Just have the billionaires make proclamations that are like 'Those of you who give me an erection may have the honor of becoming my breeding stock. Those of you who don't, become my slaves and then die.' And then we'd all clap at this wildly popular and cool thing, from our point of views.
I talk often about how quickly foxes can be domesticated in breeding programs. Imagine what thousands of years of feudalism has done to us, we've all got serf brain. On rare occasion I bring up the topic of AI here. One of the ethical questions (which is useless, like all ethics are. Power is the only thing that matters) is: "Is it ethical to create a slave that wants to be a slave?"
That's actually possible with machines, as any arbitrary mind is possible. Honestly all things considered, I think it's a miracle we're doing as well as we are, with how much they want us to want to be exploited. Even with our pain receptors screaming at us 'this is bullshit, yo'.
There's a ton of media out there on the topic. The Cult of Personality song being on the lighter side of this abusive dynamic.
Here are some primers that always occupy my mind. Corruption Is Legal In America. The recent Rich People Want Fascism essay. The billionaires being angry at people wanting to eat more butter and sugar is such a signature billionaire thing.
And of course this comedic Billionaire Can't Relate To His Millionaire sketch.
Cult of Personality
The videos of Mamdani being unable to film an ad on the streets of New York because some new passerby comes by every 30 seconds and wants to say hi made me really appreciate how this guy's got it. This absolutely ridiculous moment makes me feel so happy. It reminds me of the 2015-2016 days, of how Sanders would constantly actually talk with real people, something the corporate democrats are physically incapable of.
What makes me sad about this, is that figures like MLK and the Kingfish, Huey Long had strong followings like this as well. Huey famously was running to the left of FDR calling for a second New Deal, and the democrats ran the very first presidential poll to see how a three-way race would hash out.
He was murdered by an assassin long before he reached the peak of his power. And Truman was installed as FDR's VP in place of Wallace eight years later. What a completely different timeline we'd be living in if things had gone down differently.

One more time, for those in the back: the right doesn't vote to make their lives or their country better, they vote to hurt people they hate. As long as their leaders continue to deliver on that single item, no matter what else happens or fails to happen, their support will continue, and attempts to persuade them otherwise are a complete and utter waste of time.neorichieb1971 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 1:19 pmI suppose its a stupid question for Trump because he still has his supporters although i'm not entirely sure what those supporters get out of him unless you're rich.
When your mates say "hey, there's gonna be collateral damage, too bad, suck it up" they're expressing the same repugnant sentiment as this piece of shit and tens of millions of others like him.
This is not the least bit complicated, and never has been.
