Yes I've heard this from many, but if I look at the Remake and say "what is it like?" I don't find any real similarities to generic things, especially World 3, 4 and 5.
ah the image in your last post is not there apparently, (ah no there is) I haven't seen these expressions in game AHAAHAHAH is it the photo mode?

Anyway Patches animated is the best thing that happened to me in souls

bahaha. DSP getting clapped by the blood drunk hunters is a certified hood classic
Mostly by balancing physical resistance against equip requirements and stamina drain in a more intelligent way than DS1. In DS1, any shield that weighed more than 3 pounds was a complete piece of shit, because the heater was 2 pounds and blocked 100% of physical damage, and the crest shields were all 3 pounds and blocked either 100% or 90+% of physical damage. Then there was the broken fucking grass crest shield, that could be upgraded to block 90%+ physical damage and give you extra stamina regen.

Dark Souls 2 dramatically increased the weight of phys100% shields, reduced the availability of such shields (especially early) and reduced the phys% reduction on lightweight shields. There are still some really good shields (like the large leather shield that blocks 85% and weighs very little,) but you do have to actually think about your shield in DS2. I also remember the grass crest shield equivalent not being so easy to grab immediately upon starting a fresh game.

DSP exists solely to get obliterated in souls games. That is his personal hell. It always amazes me how he's played so many of the games for so many years yet sucks so much ass still.

They're not nearly dark and shadowy enough for the way Demon's Souls was supposed to look. OG ps3 visuals are still pretty much perfect to this day.

Haha yeah the remake vs OG demons souls isn't an argument I can get invested in again.
I just know Bluepoint think they know better, and in their inspirations sheet for the new flamelurker design, they didn't include the old flamelurker as a reference. That tells you everything tbh.
Texas Souls

anyhhow - Shields in DS2?
Idk man. You can get a 90% light shield in the first area! Which is good for like the whole game.
There is also a 100% phys reduce shield after Pursuer, so, also in the first area.
Either of those are good for the entire game. Who cares if they're heavier?? the fast roll requirement is up to like 70%! in ds1 it was 30%

the 'meta' for most souls nerds is dude with a greatsword in his underwear rolling everything
Idk what an ADP build is, adp is necessary to have any efficacy in the game at all. So all builds are ADP builds.
Except my recent couple of youtube streams, in which i'm trying to do the Thicc Boi run for DS2 now. Trying to beat the game without rolling at all.

By the by, there's that Eagle Shield/Wooden greatshield available for purchase in Majula. 95% phys reduction may aswell be 100 imo. And it has mega stability.

So competent shields for the full game are accessible almost from the get go.

Here is the stream Vod but i plan to make a montage/ Youtube vid out of the playthrough

Basically it aims to have more iFrames than the opponent. Is a build with higher than normal ADP (Agility), to spam rolls around your opponents and attack using a pair of poison daggers. One of the most hated builds in PVP. Minimal investment in any stats other than Agility and Stamina, ironically ADP also gives you some HP as a stat, so it's not too fragile either. I thought it was some kind of trolling, but I've seen more of these than I thought :| ...and also a lot of Dark Crescent Axe.

And anyway ONLY in DS2 did weapons like this exist:
https://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Warped+Sword
that allow you to go Dual with different categories of weapons, not being able to do it in 3/ER was a huge disappointment....

I love Dark Souls 2 for a lot of reasons, and revisiting it via SOTFS really helped me appreciate in a way that's reminiscent of the best the KF games have to offer. But I'm not sure I can think of anything good about the gameplay changes, regardless of how cool you might think powerstancing is.

Maybe it's just my play style, but am I the only one who spends a lot more time just standing around waiting for stamina to regenerate in DS2 compared to every other Souls game?

Also noticed this when I was playing Dark Souls 2 recently. Can't say if it was better or worse for me in comparison with the other games however because I haven't played them in years.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

I think the "generic" complaints are coming from comparison to popular western fantasy games like the modern Diablos. This lavish fantasy aesthetic with bright colours and exaggerated comicbookesque monsters is pretty much the Blizzard look.

I definitely wouldn't call it ugly, but it's not as good a fit for the game's grim themes of struggle than the more grounded and drained look it used to have. It was so dark and pallid that even a mundane locale told the story of a sad and sick world. This new one looks much more adventurous and energized in comparison.

Anyone playing Night Reign? What's it like? I'd get it, but I need Edge to tell me what to think. If I get it, would love a long term partnership with committed players from here.

I refuse to pay the prices Sony is asking for online multiplayer on their consoles and haven't upgraded my PC in 9 years, so I'm out by default.

Picked it up on PC yesterday, though I was busy and haven't tried it yet. All I know is Digital Foundry did a video on it from its beta months back, and it looked really fun. The new movement options look awesome. I'm looking forward to trying it.
