Sadly it is not what i want because is more like a sci-fi based shooter. To replace your decision, I would thinking about the all mighty Toaplan games (Flying shark, fire shark, twin cobra, etc,...)

1944 Loop Master is a nice little tribute to flying shark. Even had two toaplan staff members iirc. Battle bakraid also had some toaplan staff but feels less toaplan-ish to me.

I wonder also if Air Gallet would suit you?

Recently return to my own thread and wanna ask, Isn’t Ketsui supposed to be a spiritual successor to Air Gallet I mean I saw most of Gazelle’s staff working on this game, and Uemura-san come to Cave in 2001

Ketsui was a very easy pick but i was jumped. I can also bring out SWIV and its sequel, and maybe Koutetsu Yousai Strahl is up your alley?

Of course there's also Operation Lunar Fury for the veterans.

Why NES version specifically? There's an arcade version that more of a shmup, as well. The one with the big D in the title, not to be confused with the localization of the Laserdisc game, Thunder Storm.
