I actually did this relatively recently myself. At least I wasn't on my last life when I did it!

Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
im on the 50k only extend setting for reasons i'm not prepared to even think of yet and you can only spawn a max of 2 1up items per game so when those white planes show up on my last life i get hella eager. in this case, too eager
Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
Mikado uses 50,000 only as well. I think it used to be the regular 50,000/150,000 every over at Ikebukuro, but at Takadanobaba it's 50,000 only. Gotta be careful with those white planes, though; they'll spawn infinitely until they drop the second extend item. Once the second extend item appears, those planes stop appearing even if you don't collect the item, so if you were to crash into the last white plane when it's not your last life, you just lost two extends, which is extra painful if you're on 50,000 only.
This is actually why I still use a non-auto shot button even if I am using auto, as the slow rate of fire of the 5Hz auto will sometimes result in me crashing into planes like this if I'm too eager to get their item and not careful enough. I find that I shoot faster with a manual shot button in such cases, so I think it's a little safer. Faster music tends to make me shoot faster too.

Come back after a three months finding another game with the same military gear and gameplay. During this time, i've played a lot of goods and bads, ups and downs, but i feel like Flying Shark is really my home

Come by just to inform you guys
As you can see, all of my former 1cc replays on youtube is gone that is because my channel is dead after hitting three strikes. From now on, all of my 1ccs will be moved completely to Facebook and was set to Public so that anyone don't have Facebook can access
And i also lost my old video reach 1,002,050. But here is my new replays (and new score as well): https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=572573568961840

Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
thx mang. hoping to match it on the only extend setting someday soon
Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
Hell yeah, that's how it's done. I keep forgetting to try this game at 50,000 only some more. It's been cold as hell in my house for a while, at least for Tokyo standards, but it seems to have started to warm up slightly, so I might be able to actually go sit down at the Astro and put some time in with it sooner or later.

Come back here just to ask everyone what do you think about Friking Shark, a fan-made 3D remake of this game

Player plane moves up and down very fast
Perspective is all wrong (perhaps due to the much higher resolution)
Enemy placement is incorrect
Bomb items are missing
On the other hand, it's very cool that this exists.

I'm not sure if I'm more appalled that the music sucks ass or that it has better graphics than the new Sonic Wings.

Yeah i've recently played it, and i feel like the 3D debris falls to the ground hurting my eyes, mostly when trying to recover from checkpoint. Ship speed is much faster than the OG Hishouzame so it might feel a little uncontrollable when it comes to recovery as wellemphatic wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 10:33 pmLooks very easyNguyen VinhLOC wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 7:54 pm Come back here just to ask everyone what do you think about Friking Shark, a fan-made 3D remake of this game

Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
Bomb the turrets on the big ships on stage 3 after loop 2 or 3, depending on how confident you are. The game doesn't get any harder after loop 3 and there is no randomness if you're at full power and the two extend items have already appeared, so if you can finish loop 3, you could theoretically play the game forever.
Keep forgetting to play this on 50,000 only. Haven't played it for at least three months and possibly four, but I've been feeling pretty good recently for once, so I hope I'll remember.

I tried, but I always mistimed the bomb to match all 4 turretsSteven wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 6:25 am Bomb the turrets on the big ships on stage 3 after loop 2 or 3, depending on how confident you are. Gotta practice~
Well, I'm going to try 50,000 only. I gave it a shot last night, but I was exhausted and I ended up doing dumb stuff like dying on stage 1.

Additional information:
Since mame4droid2024 is being updated to mame4droid2025, Hishouzame roms is unplayable due to a checksum error, and other Japanese Toaplan roms is not saving high scores despite working properly, that's why i played the international bootleg version instead
Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
I just now realized that there is a table for hard difficulty. I'm assuming that that is difficulty C and not D. I think I have a D difficulty no-sound PCB replay somewhere, but I know you don't want to make more tables (good luck with figuring out Mushihimesama. I know absolutely nothing about that game, so...), which is also why I'm not going to ask for a table for 50,000 only, which I've been playing recently and really like. I'll try C difficulty later after I decide to not be too lazy to check the PS4/Switch version to get the DIP switch settings for the PCB.

Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
Fixed, sorry about that.
Now that we have this great port, I can use A/B/C/D like I want, like with Darius II. Added.
For this game, it seems reasonable to lower the extends. I'm not going to officially endorse it perse, but if you used a single extend setting or the 70K/200K setting, I don't mind adding those scores to the tables with a note. It's just that this whole process is nicer when everyone is on the same page. What I would like to do is enforce some kind of agreed-upon "tournament rules" for certain games like this one... maybe 3 (2 + single extend) or 4 lives only, and/or difficulty D, etc. But very few are really gonna play it like that, because it's not how they were playing it all this time. Certainly not enough people to replace the other boards for.

Re: Hi Sho Zame (Flying/Sky Shark)
Eh, don't worry about it. It happens. You put me as 1-3 on Zero Wing 1P too, BTW, instead of 2-3.
One of the cool things about M2 ShotTriggers is that choosing the arcade mode gives you a standardized ruleset: in the case of Hishouzame, you're locked to the Japanese version, B difficulty, 50,000/150,000 every, and all of that, and if you want something different, you must choose custom mode instead. Good stuff. I think using M2 ShotTriggers arcade mode settings for those few games with ShotTriggers releases is a good base, except for when it forces you to play the not-as-good 2P version of Hellfire instead of the much better, and, perhaps more importantly, creator-intended 1P version. Most of the arcade modes default to the Japanese default DIP switches anyway, which includes the fast player speed option for Tiger-Heli. That speed setting itself is somewhat interesting, but that's a completely different topic.
Mikado is currently running Hishouzame with a 50,000 only extend setting. It used to be the regular 50,000/150,000 every, but not anymore. If you want to do a 50,000 only extend score table I'd be cool with it and myco probably will too. We're probably the only ones that would play it, though. Up to you, ultimately.
If I was really being selfish, I'd like to see a table for the custom settings that Taito Hey had for Same! Same! Same! when they did the location test for the M2 ShotTriggers release. With how picky people are about demanding that CAVE games be 100% completely accurate to how they are in the arcade down to obsessing over individual frames of slowdown, they couldn't really criticize a Taito Hey custom setting for Same!; it was used in a real arcade, after all. Nobody plays Same! except for me and an extremely minute handful of other wonderful crazy people, and even less people would play on these settings because it's impossible play it on MAME because it requires settings that the PCB is not capable of, but you get the idea.
