Is there any advantage to using 1p over 2p? Sometimes I feel like there may be a hitbox difference, but pretty sure I'm just psyching myself out.

In both arcade Macross games by NMK, the 2P side is faster. In Macross 2 this is a lot more important for getting speedy medal pickups and kills, but frankly the faster you are the better you are at surviving in the game, so there is no reason not to play as 2P.

The hitbox may change depending on the form you are currently in - that I am not sure. I think that your hitbox is bigger when in Valkyrie mode, and may be a horizontal rectangle a la Raiden's hitbox (for reference).

Nice, if there's no downside then I'll stick to 2P. I feel like the extra speed makes the Gerwalk shot a lot more viable.
