Ugly sleeve for a cracking Rainbow LP... and tbh I never rated X-M's title screen very highly either, although the unsettling X-TREEEM CLOSEUP works better in daemonic techno-horror than feelgood ROCKIN.

Incidentally, Bring On The Night's subtitle is DREAM CHASER. Not the most unique title, but with all the odd places Blackmore & Co appear in JP game music lore, it wouldn't surprise me. The songs' vibes most definitely synchronise at any rate, holy fuuuck! Image Image

>Starstruck (off Rising)
>Lightningstruck (Trigon's "Faraway," off Naoto Shibata & co's Perfect Selection Konami Shooting Battle)

Would be remiss not to include Shibata Project's "Nostalgic," also Trigon; one of the ultimate AST hair metal ballads. Image Image

Definitely among the best menu themes I've ever heard. You gotta have gusto like this in action games, man.

Man I can't get over Konami's late 80s AC musical chops. :o Every random pick harbours face-melting brilliance! I only know HAWT CHASE as the game whose staff assisted the struggling Haunted Castle; then a random horror sidescroller fallen behind schedule, gifted the shiny new Dracula IP. Then they were recalled to their original project, and HC got booted out half-baked. 3; BUT WITH SHAWEET BGM :3

Now, the audio quality's not as great as Konami's thunderous usual. In fact it's quite poor, prefiguring badly-compressed N64/GBA carts. I wonder what the tech situation was? Graphics look ambitious. Also, most rips kick off with unpleasant tyre squeal SFX. But! It's A Hard Way In The Sububs reels off the most delightful piano solos over an effortlessly breezy machinegun groove!

Happily, lots of JP arrangers know this too, and theirs sound BALLS AMAZIN Image Image

> Arranged by kenshiro @ Game Music Channel (just immaculate! super rad dude btw!)
> Arranged by CHABIN (from FMPSG002 -Legendary Sounds-) (nice chunky FM sound!)
> Original Sound Version (headphones warning for intro)

TOP GUN THE 2ND MISSION = MISSION 2 BGM, cover by the estimable McQueen8601. Fuuuuck yes. Image That wildly careening yet piston-precise sound! Image The low growl of the guitar that kicks off each verse is so cool! The same leads erupting forth in controlled spiralling furies! I think I've posted this before, IDGAF THOUGH (`w´メ) this some BIGDICKENING ACTION BGM Image

Customarily badass overseas boxart by Mr. Tom Dubois. Is that even the right game? I dunno, never played 'em tbh. Ultra-apropos this BGM, though! The sweeping scope, the dizzying perspective, the visceral sense of momentum. Check out the wakes of those battleships hauling ass! Shmuppin' as fuck. Image
