My, I just learned about Steve Albini's demise from here. Played Songs About Fucking and Surfer Rosa a lot at work again, last month. Helmet's Meantime starts with a song recorded by him, it's also ripped onto pendrive I've been using there. He so happened to be involved in so many music productions massively influential in my life, from Nirvana's In Utero to Joanna Newsom's Ys it's unbelieveable. And now I see he recorded Zeni Geva many a time!
There is no telling the youth of today what it meant to me - hearing Zeni Geva on Polish Radio back in my early teens, when "everybody would play the same two casettes" as my friend put it, and Zeni Geva just happened to be touring continental Europe. Or - unsatisfied with it as Albini was, apparently - In Utero being widely distributed around (real game-changer to my ears way back then, when contemporary rock music studio production would oftentimes blow). Reading about his oeuvre now, I totally need to give Uzeda and Bellini a try. Enough said.
(I feel it's pretty great that youth have such an easy access to most of it nowadays. There is so much music digitally available out there just about any direction to move in is as good as any other.)

I wasn't familiar offhand with voice actor Doc Harris, who died at age 76, but as soon as the writeup mentioned "..next time on Dragon Ball Z!" I instantly heard him in my head.

Lilly Ledbetter, 86 - for those who don't know the name off the top of their head, without her knowledge she was paid less than her male coworkers for the same work for over 20 years, sued when she eventually found out, and was denied by the Supreme Court because she hadn't filed when the discrimination first happened, even though that would have been impossible. She became an activist for equal pay and a law bearing her name was passed to prevent others from being trapped in the same situation she was.

Oh sucky. Killers was always my favorite Maiden album. Reading a bit about his departure, I gather him and Steve Harris didn't get along. Honestly though I just prefer Paul's vocal range; never was a huge ball-busting high register fan.

Thanks everyone. Even e-hugz are very appreciated.

Mom had a heart attack back near the start of the year. Her bypass surgery went great (Nihon-jin doctor as it happens) and she was sent to a nursing home for PT. But they didn't keep her sternum incision clean. It got infected, leading to re-hospitalization and all these months fighting antibiotic-resistant bacteria that made their way from skin, to blood, to bone.

Oh god that's horrible. To think it could have been prevented if they were more careful. :x

Big e-hug from Baltimore.

Damn, was reminiscing about him just yesterday, after my TRVE crime dude Dreading's R. Kelly video. Not to impugn Quincy by association with that poop-smearing freak. Just that Kelly's collaboration with MJ came up during, and you can't talk MJ without QJ.

Good run. Image Got a laugh out of his flaming poor Ringo in latter years. Sounds lke a vintage farm thread ca.2007! Those no-playing MUHFUCKAS

Well, since R. Kelly's already mentioned in this post, might as well chuck another pedo on the pyre. TCAP alumnus Jim Rauch, he dead. If you know you know. 3; Many fond hours' BG noise listening to Jim drunkenly match wits with his curiously well-informed decoy and the cops. 77, thought he was considerably older. Being outed as a chomo and sent to the can in later life must do a number on a man's health. Later Jim.

^ not Jim! That's just one of the fierce competitors he did battle with at legendary swinger's club RHINOS back in the day.

Damn, too soon. Always a uniquely magnetic presence. Candyman is almost certainly his signature role ("Be my victim..."), but my single favourite line of his is from The Rock. Image

Just think of the thousands - maybe hundreds of thousands - of instances that people ragequit rather than hear another single goddamned "ROCKET PUNCH!"
