Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Niviv posted a really great new Sonic Wings 3 replay recently as he has been grinding the game hard. He bested the previous highest replay by appx 700,000, which is quite significant! Lots of great scoring tricks and strategies in his run and a lot of excitement around the game as several people have been clearing it recently (including Ako, whose Chaika replay is already listed).

This gem has been updated in the stg wiki Video Index, but not here. Great run! It's got better video quality and is without the mushi OST.

Not technically a 2all, as it is restarted from the beginning of the second loop, but 2.22m score while no miss, no bomb the entire second loop with P-51 Mustang in Strikers 1945
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNYNPQ_8GRM
He has some other great replays on his channel like a loop 32 of Tatsujin no miss no bomb green weapon only, loop 16 of Hishouzame no miss no bomb, and loop 99 of Daisenpuu no miss

After having reviewed the replay, I have considered to not add it to the opening post as there are too many issues surrounding it.
1) It's not a full run anyway but only the second loop from a savestate. I usually want to list full runs (or parts thereof) only. It's fine if only the second loop of a full run is shown in the video, but skipping the first loop entirely is against the 1cc mentality all the other replays listed in the opening post are striving for.
2) The legitimacy of the play can be called into question. The approach is sold as a survival play aiming for a no miss no bomb. However, the final score is really high and incredible risks are taken all throughout the run for minor scoring purposes (e.g. killing small planes during bosses instead of not shooting them to avoid their dangerous revenge bullets) and the player gets away with it every single time by simply getting extremely lucky. While I couldn't find any hard evidence of cheating, It makes the run appear just very, very unlikely. Particularly striking decisions can be found, e.g. at 5:14, 8:32 among many others.
All that aside, I think that the player is very knowledgeable in this game and knows what he's doing. Moreover, some really interesting and original strategies are shown off that can be used in actual runs, too. I have certainly learnt some good bits from this replay even if I'm generally left in doubt.
I'm not very familiar with the other games from the replays on his channel but I suspect that observant viewers may find more questionable gameplay in them.
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
I am not seeing anything suspicious at all about his replays, and he has clearly very intensively routed every aspect of the game. While I am not knowledgeable enough to say with a very high degree of confidence that the Strikers replay is 100% legitimate, his Daisenpuu play absolutely is. I am curious if anyone knows the identity of this player. He seems to be one of the absolute top players in the world at many Toaplan titles, and a second loop no miss no bomb is unheard of for the first Strikers to my knowledge, especially with such score play, but I would like to see some other expert players chime in (Strikers 1945 2all nomiss is one of my upcoming goals, so to see a player has done it while also no-bomb gives me great confidence).
Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
How much experience do you have with this game, particularly with the 2nd loop? In order to see what is looking off in this replay, watching the replay alone isn't enough. Even comparing it to other replays won't help much, as posted replays are usually just successful attempts. What the replays don't show you is the important part. All the failures that show you how the revenge bullets can behave in this game. To experience this, it's best to play the game and see for yourself.
While the replay does feature some interesting strategies, the routing is outright terrible in other parts. For instance, what is striking to see is the approach to the first form of the Russia boss (3:21-3:41). The replay chooses a bad and horribly inconsistent route, even though the player had a better route for the boss posted on his channel a couple of months earlier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozi1HNXWHb8). Note that this is not an execution error nor bad luck - rather, it is a deliberate routing decision for the worse, which tells me that the player had trouble to decide which one is better. If you struggle with such a decision, it might stem from a lack of experience.
Furthermore, I have collected a couple of timestamps with particularly dubious decisions: 1:01, 1:11, 4:42, 5:15, 6:08, 7:10, 7:21, 8:20, 8:32, 9:52, 9:54 (These are just by far the worst bits. The replay is replete with weird decisions). In all of these cases, the player is taking extreme risks solely relying on luck when he could've simply stopped shooting to make it much safer. More bad routing can be seen at 4:36. I don't even know why the player is doing it like this. More needless risks taken.
I should make clear that the replay overall is very bad when taken as a survival replay. An actual no miss no bomb can be made significantly easier in many parts. While a no miss has been done before, I don't think the game has been NMNB'ed in the past. Similarly, when viewed as a scoring replay, it is just as bad. The route is too inconsistent and the player misses out on bigger yet easier scoring opportunities (Gunbird train, using bombs for score), while still going for minor scoring risks (zako milking during bosses, boss parts).
In the end, I don't really understand the approach of the replay. Please also note that I can't definitively label it as a cheated run nor do I want to. It's just a weird mix of routing relying on an absurd amount of luck. I guess such a run could theoretically happen if you just grind it for long enough. In a way, it reminds me of the famous alleged Donpachi counterstop by Chibarei (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgYLZ1eRu0I) that shows some extremely good routing in some parts (which must've taken months to figure out) but is quite obviously a TAS while never being labelled as such. However, you wouldn't really be able to tell if you don't have a lot of experience with the game.
I hope this more detailed explanation helps to understand the situation and my decision a little bit better although it might not be a satisfying reply to you in the end. When you start to learn the 2nd loop of the game and eventually route it for a no miss, you will quickly notice the flaws in this replay as you won't be able to adapt the route in many parts. Even if the replay turns out to be real in the end, I would never advise to actually use it as a reference for a NM(NB) route. Don't rely on this one too much.

Thanks for the heads-up! The dead links indeed need to be replaced. Re: Highest scoring replays available (resource topic)
Best practice would be to ask permission before reposting anyone's replays. Second best would be to keep a copy for yourself and not consider reposting unless the original video is removed from the internet - I imagine some players would be annoyed by this, but at least it doesn't steal views from them.Nguyen VinhLOC wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 12:07 pm Also one questions, can i repost my favorite Twitch replays to my Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@vinhlocnguyen
