I do have Mr. Driller 2 & Mr. Driller G pcbs which are ace. The Japanese GBA game import of Mr. Driller A is quite fun -- managed to beat the easy 1000m stage with high scores & high score initials saved to nvram for posterity. How cool is that? Sure keeps you on your toes, especially at the lower depths trying to get those life-extending air capsules indeed.

I love it just as much. I had my little nieces play it this past Thanksgiving when they came over to stay with me. They totally loved it and enjoyed the game. I do see part one on EBay for sale a lot. Do you guys know if someone made a multi of the system 10 Namco board yet? That would be awesome to own all of them on one PCB.
Not that I know of.

Since I originally started this thread about 19 years ago on my first marriage living on the other side of the Atlantic, and subsequently bought newer cabinets and installed another Mr Driller 2 PCB and become a grandad, I have played quite a few iterations of MD.

Dreamcast Mr Driller is nice, but its basic. Seems unfinished to me. The 200,000 point doesn't count down when you do a 1 life clear. There is only a 500m/1000m option and not a 2000m option. Its 480p though.

PS1 I find has much more options on their titles. Namco obviously put more effort into the PS1 releases.

The Gamecube game is nice, but it strays far from its arcade routes with extra modes, which are fine, but I like the arcade elements which when done force you to do the other bits.

GBA - Really nice version.

But I like them all.

DrillLand is cheap as chips for Switch. Might give it a go.

Also, still blows my mind this thread is nearly 20 years old.

When I first played Driller G I struggled to click with it, but if you put in a bit of time learning how pieces connect and disappear as they drop, it's incredibly fun. I really fell in love with it after putting a bit of time into it. It's a bit trickier to get into it compared to Tetris or Aqua Rush perhaps, but once you do man it's fun.
