this is a post about a new indie-title in development with roots in the shmup genre. The game is called Phenomena Embattled. You pilot an UFO [or UAP] around earth to bring consolidation to a conflict first settled long ago. Both the surprising might of humanity and the unfathomable forces of highly advanced and hostile alien civilizations stand in your way. You battle the fleets of the universe. You decide what trans-medium vehicle to pilot and what weapon systems you bring to the medium. The single-player story unravels throughout 8-12 maps. Some scenarios will take you to space, around the solar system, to the oceans of earth and deep underground.
The game has been openly in development since 2023. A demo has been released on Steam. The demo is an early-access work, with much to change soon. The upcoming update will feature a bigger map, mission elements, an overhauled ability and inventory system, more units and of course the first fleet battles. A release date? Not yet confirm-able, but Q3 2024 is very likely. The date has been pushed back several times, for good reasons. It kept growing and evolving.
