Re: Capcom consumer survey
I complained that japanese games were better when they were designed for the japanese audience and not to sell well in the west. Then I realized Capcom has been western oriented long before their games went downhill so maybe that was uncalled for.
On the other hand they've clearly been double dipping on that strategy since the HD era started.

"What was the first Capcom game you played?"
Crikey... That'll have been Commando on the ZX Spectrum 48k in 1980-something![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Re: Capcom consumer survey
I mean, they built their name on a game about Americans shooting down Japanese warplanes. I always thought that was a little weird. Then a cowboy game and an American commando vs the crypto-Axis game. Rock Man is a reference to rock music. Their name is also a clear NASA reference, whatever they tell you it's supposed to stand for. I think they've always had a bit of Amerophilia at the heart of their corporate DNA, and it's paid off for them over the years. Most of their past contemporaries are dust.ryu wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 8:08 am I complained that japanese games were better when they were designed for the japanese audience and not to sell well in the west. I went with Hightime on a whim. Didn't care much for the phone wallpaper to be honest.

For me the last 'Capcom' Capcom game was the original Dead Rising.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
I want to argue with you but I'm trying to think of a Capcom game I've bought that was made in the last 8 years and the closest I can get is downloading Capcom arcade.
Re: Capcom consumer survey
Mega Man 11 aside I bought a couple of recent Resident Evil games. Definitely am not a huge fan though. I skipped the Remakes of 3 and 4. The former because I only hear awful things about it and because Jill looks even less like herself than Leon and Claire do in the Remake of 2. The latter doesn't interest me because I'm tired of developers shoving those cookie-cutter Ass Creed stealth mechanics into every game they can.

Stylish Cleaner?!
We all know Capcom franchises aren't created equal, but that's a bit of a snub isn't it![Neutral :|](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

Re: Capcom consumer survey
I asked for a RE Code Veronica Remake, a new Final Fight and Ghouls N Ghosts. it would seem that with the popularity of beat em ups now, I would have thought they would've already put out a new Final Fight. At least they did the bundle a few years back.
Re: Capcom consumer survey
I had to vote for Rival Schools...couldn't help it. Also picked Dudley as favorite character which hopefully actually helps do something ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

They released the results. Apparently people really want to play Dino Crisis.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
Guilty as charged! I even kinda loved Dino Crisis 3, despite... you know, everything.
Code Veronica remake should still be top priority tho, especially considering it's WAY more important to the actual RE storyline than 3 or 4 ever were.
I would love to see a proper in-house Dead Rising again instead of farming it out to western devs. 2 had a few good ideas, but frankly nothing has come close to matching the Japanese-flavored original.
I know better than to ask for a new Final Fight, they haven't really stuck the landing on that series since the first one (although I admit I do enjoy Mighty Final Fight).
King's Field IV is the best Souls game.
Re: Capcom consumer survey
I know I'm overly optimistic but seeing Darkstalkers at #5 gave me some hope.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
My beloved Onimusha made the top 10 too, those teases! I'd take a proper remaster of the original trilogy at this point. 1942 in the top 20 is refreshing to see.
The other results are fascinating, too. I'm really stoked to see Okami and Dino Crisis still getting so much love in this day and age.
Also legit shocked at how poor Street Fighter's showing was here across the board.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
I don't even know what I want from Capcom anymore other than M2 treatments of ProGear and Mars Matrix.
I'm kind of content with Mega Man these days. I think he's given us enough excellent games and indies are picking up the slack as it is.
Nothing else the company does interests me anymore.
Kunitsu-Gami looks like fun at least.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
Its a shame these surveys are not industry standard.
Some of the gaming developers are moving away from the customers wish lists.
Although, I dare say it will squish creativity. If you only do remakes, sequels from the results you'll never make anything new.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Re: Capcom consumer survey
I'm not sure I should be happy that Breath of Fire ranked fairly high for how the series has been dead. I doubt a remake or new entry would be to my liking.

Despite the waggle, Zack & Wiki was the last time Capcom really surprised me in a good way.
We apologise for the inconvenience
Re: Capcom consumer survey
I really just want more ports/collections from Capcom at this point. It's clear they've found their groove with MH/RE/SF. Whenever they drop something weird like Shinsekai or Exoprimal, it bombs. But their collections have been pretty good.
Re: Capcom consumer survey
I hate all those collections because the original games are always better in terms of input lag and so on. Apart from games that were originally in 480i or something like that.
Therefore I would appreciate anything that's just new and good. New BOF would be awesome if done right.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
This really depends on the collection!
All the stuff on the belt-scroller collection are pretty close to arcade perfect (at least on PC).
The Mega Man X collection are some of the worst ports I've ever seen. I don't know what even happened there.
If you have a modern monitor with a good refresh rate, some ports might actually have less input lag than the original hardware.

Re: Capcom consumer survey
Haha yeah, I should've clarified I mostly meant the Beat-'em-Up Bundle and the Fighting Collection (and Chronicles of Mystara in the last gen). I hope to see more stuff like that for Power Stone, Rival Schools, etc. Though I'm also holding out for a Mega Man Legends one.
