RQ: Guardian Force (SAT/ST-V) medal chaining

How exactly does it work?

Does it have anything to do with the number of times the medal bounces, or bomb use or something?

And does this game have life extends? I'm finding this to be a pretty tough game and I don't know if I'm scoring as well as I could (or should).

I haven't played it in some time, but I recall the medal value thing being rather simple, a la Raizing, something along the lines of "keep collecting them without missing any and their value keeps increasing"...I'd hafta play it again to be sure though. As far as extends, I honestly don't remember.
