Is a Triple Bypass worth it for Genesis 2 VA4?
Is a Triple Bypass worth it for Genesis 2 VA4?
I just got myself a model 2 VA4 which as I have read has really good AV output already, is it worth installing a 3BP in one of these, or a better question would be, is there any comparisons before/after on a model 2 VA4?

I tried RGB bypassing on both of my Japanese VA4 Mega Drives and it made no difference at all with regards to the faint jailbars.
Your milage may vary, there could be differences in your console that makes the mod work well.
On RetroRGB there are comparison shots where the mod makes a difference. So I guess it does work on some systems.

I get faint jailbars on my triple bypassed model 2 system (forget my revision) if my OSSC is in generic sampling mode. Goes away with dialed in settings for some reason.
I did it mostly for audio though where it was a night and day improvement.

I'm not sure if jailbars is a problem with this revision since its using the GOAC:
I'll do some comparisons when it arrives + I ordered a Mega EverDrive, which could be a couple of months yet. I did want to hunt down a VA2/2.3 which has the original YM2612 but they are a nightmare to find and supposedly the audio levels for SN76489 are too quiet compared with model 1 VA1-6, Master System games in particular sounding "off".
https://consolemods.org/wiki/Genesis:Ge ... ifferencesThis was the final board revision for the model 2 and appears to be the best for both audio and video quality. All video issues have been eliminated, as the Sony CXA1645 chip in these is back to being crisp, colorful, and vivid. Furthermore, the sound has been improved a little more, with less DAC noise than on the VA3.
