they wont stop, Cave has a growing market for their shmups.... it's not like nobody plays their games or anything :P

doing medal games (and Pachi-slots, etc) proved to be an extra good source of income for many compaines (Sega, Konami, Taito, etc..), esp. for those in the PCB biz.

By far the coolest medal game I saw in Japan was the Aliens machine. Second would be this huge dragon game and thirdly some sort of artificial aquarium game.

Ignorant alert!

What the hell is a medal game?
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

it's in the same league as pachinko "games"... you play for prizes, in this case, Medal games are for everyone, even little kids, while pachinko is considered "gambling", so it's not accessible by minors, and also a reason why there are a lot of "adult oriented" pachinko/pachi-slot/video-pachi games

As long as they make enough money with this machines to continue developing shmups then this is a fine thing. I think that the duality concept of making money with commerical hits to continue financing more niche genres is a very solid concept!

is there such a thing as Pornchinko? Is that what you're saying?
I guess with "adult" he`s referring to gambling.
