Geppy X was hard to find even in Japan back in early 2000...
Aroma's Geppy X: 70's Robot Anime is, indeed, a four disc PSX import extravaganza was produced in limited numbers in Japan...hence, it was hard to find back in March-April of 2000 (when I was there for the Spring 2000 TGS). I paid 6,800 yen for it which was retail price anyways...well worth the $$$ spent for it.
I'm surprised that Aroma hasn't re-released Geppy X on just one DVD-Rom disc for the PS2 platform. Would be good to see it released on just one disc for old times sake. I'm surprised that even some classic PSX import games are still being re-released in Japan in PSX reprinted game format right now. ^_~
I like the crazy Geppy X parody commercials that are shown when one takes a breather from one stage to another. I dig the cool Japanese Geppy X theme song that plays when fighting the final mecha boss on disc number 4. ^_~
There is a bit of fan service of jiggly anime breasts in the well-endowed female anime characters presented in Geppy X's FMV cut-scenes. But it's not enough to make your nose bleed. Or is it? ^_~ (Ah then, Geppy X would be branded as a PSX hentai shmup game...I guess Aroma didn't want that to happen but just enough subtle tillitation to give a bit of sexiness to it's female characters. Of course, there's no nudity either.) ^_~

Never played Kiaden but it's one on the list.
Geppy is a horizontal shooter that in terms of gameplay reminds me most of Cho Aniki: presentation was the priority, the actually game added later. It still plays better than the Cho Aniki games and is solid fun, but a bit easy, shouldn't take more than a few tries to clear without continues. The presentation is of course extraordinary, even after about six months since I last played it I'll still catch myself humming the boss theme from time to time. Brilliant stuff.

If it's imports of robot games you're after, try the Super Robot Taisen Alpha series...aka Super Robot Wars. You won't regret it.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

So how does Geppy-X acutally play? The way I've heard it described makes it sound more like a run-and-gun then a shmup. As long as it's fun to play, that's all I care about. I have a modded PS1 and would like to build up a good collection for it.
