Hither came Blinge the Barbarian, red-haired, sullen-eyed, input device in hand, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the dusty covers of obscure old games under his sandalled feet.

Good stuff :) I wonder if that one contentious fight being melee-viable was an intentional choice - it really teeters on the edge between knowing concession and sheer fortunate jank.

Neat to see the Shenmue style day-night-as-an-immersive-inconvenience mechanic too. I thought the shopkeep had been run through and left to stew in a pool of his own blood when you went back - not an uncommon fate for Fromsoft NPCs, after all - but nah, he's just napping with a particularly dense blob shadow.

You can really feel your waify no-DEF quickroll bro HNNNNNNG and HRRAAAAA behind his big fookin chopper n' doughty slab of TEMPERED STEEL - all kindsa big, bad dudes sustaining fatal BEEFEH HITZ to they spinal column, their own assaults *KTANNG*ing off the mighty greatshield! Image

Admit it, that was the least filthy option that surfaced in response to Dr. Biruford's patent-pending reputation-preceded rorschach test  I know it certainly was for me.

Well shit, clickbait and redpilled Theory Souls from here on out then?

Consider me convinced; chest lad is easily enough of a shitheel to qualify. I wonder though, did you do Mild Mannered Pate dirty for his name, or because DS2 is better left unspoken? ;)

Looking forward to that Shadow Tower video - the game looks dope, and I certainly wasn't expecting to see RAW GUN +10 in a From crawler.

Supplemental material: Pronunciation reference for Shadow Tower currency.

fuck no that'd be boring doing content like that all the time.
I'm gonna go back to regular programming.

I didn't touch on pate because i had mostly forgotten about him. His air of plausible deniability makes him different imo, also he's more about his quarrel with Creighton.
The fact that the exploding chest can be either of them is really dumb too i think.
Also I didn't wanna bloat the vid. maybe it's already bloated.

Thanks for the pronunciation tips there Lander but i think i'll steer clear of it all the same

This video just got recommended to watch on my living room TV's YouTube app.
The TV that doesn't have my account signed in, and which is primarily used to watch relaxing baby music, people talking about photography, or funny clips from Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.

Great video, I definitely agree that Patches is meant to be thematically a rehash of that character. I wasn't aware Shadow Tower Abyss had a fan translation, I'll definitely have to give it a whirl.

I've also been watching your Thicc boi souls run up to the parts I've beaten, it's hilarious and impressive seeing you clear the game like this. Seeing the Taurus Demon hop off the tower to his death was 10/10 content, haha.

Even dogs like From Software games.

But yeah, good video. Enjoyed it quite a bit, you've got the voice for it and you know what you are doing.

The Patches lore is interesting, but I came out with a different revelation: I think I missed out on not playing the Armored Core games. The PS3 and PS1 footage shown in the video makes them look ridiculously fun.

What is everyone's thoughts on the PS2 Armored Core 2? That was the only one I tried and it didn't really "click" with me. Though to be fair, I didn't make it far. It seemed pretty slow compared to the gameplay I saw in that video.

My only foray into the post-PS1 era AC games was Armored Core 3 on PS2. I agree, the PS1 games felt snappier and faster. It depends on your build though, but I had a lot of fun with the three PS1 era games (AC, Project Phantasma, Master of the Arena).

The only fault I had is that all the later arena battles rely on Human+ opponents who can use builds that are physically impossible to use yourself unless you deliberately run yourself into debt repeatedly. This includes using overweight setups and shoulder mounted stuff without having to kneel. Particularly, most of them use the Moonlight Blade wave attack that deals absurd damage. I get that it's to make them hard despite the fact that they're being handled by the AI, but I wasn't fond of obviously the difficulty was coming from their ability to do stuff my mech physically couldn't do.

There's ways of planning around fighting Human+ in the arena though, that such as hovering oriented builds (I had good success with Karasawa laser gun or the dual grenade launcher arms).
