Medium Res JAMMA pcb

Post by yojo! »

Just bought Scramble spirits PCB.I've been looking for it for years...
But I could not get it to display properly in any of my cabs. Went to klov to find out that it's a medium res PCB. Do you think I could get it to display correctly with a supergun if I were to tweak my TV setup using the "secret" maintenance mode to adjust the horizontal frequency ?

indeed, System 24 has medium res.!
download manual here: http://crazykong.com/manuals/ScrambleSpirits.man.pdf.
I doubt if it will be possible, you probably could build some kind of converter though, but I wonder if anyone ever undertook such a venture.
Then again, I really don't know. I very curious though. And I remember when I almost bought SS for the Master system, but the extreme flickering threw me of and I bought Aerial Assault instead and never looked back. I wonder if my cab has a medium res capable monitor.

so basically I'm f##ked... :( . Not techy enough to build a converter, so unless I get a new monitor I can kiss it goodbye. I can't believe such an early game got a medium res release. I tried with a supergun and it did not work either...

yeah, you need a multiscan monitor supporting 24khz. You might find an old PC monitor doing that for cheap. It´s worth the effort though, if you like Sega Model 2/3 games like Virtua Fighter, Sega Rally or Daytona, because they all run at that frequency and aren´t that expensive nowadays because those monitors are so rare and have basically been replaced by hires monitors and games. But there is, for example, no hires version of Daytona 2 or Scud Race.

Decided to stop lurking and register to pass on this info:

20" medium res arcade monitor in BC, Canada. This is the second time he's listed it I think, so I'm sure you could even get away with making him a lower offer.
