Lent The Easter Bunny: Story One (PS4-PS5)

TRASHFALL FINAL (PART IV)
THE TRASH FALLING ON EARTH IS A PROBLEM

On the 7th Day, Lea laughed at the atrocities of gaming.

Looks like we're on a double feature of Breakthrough Gaming trash releases, and here's part two.
After the return of Breakthrough Gaming to the Trash shmup scene with Space 2 Challenge Mode Edition, we're facing a new game: Lent The Easter Bunny (Story One) (Of God-Knows-How-Many-Of-Them) by Project: Summer Ice, Breakthrough Gaming's alter-ego.

Lent: Ripping "RABBIT SEASON" flyers to shreds.

Lent The Easter Bunny, also known as Lent's Adventure is a vertical scrolled RPG similar to Our Church and Halloween, and the gameplay structure is basically the same as the first part of said series: Just do the talk with other characters, find a specific spot, you're done. No challenge, no treasures or experience points to gain. ¿Why this "Zero RPG Elements" idiocy?, Being Chapter/Part One doesn't mean you have to be lazy and short, even tech demos have at least one or two fights and a treasure to find in order to give players an idea of what to expect when the final product is released.

This is the closest thing to a fight.

Combat, one of the key and heart aspects of RPG's is non-existant here. The only closest thing to that is this encounter with a wolf (actually a fox) which triggers a skippable dialogue and that's all. If there's no battles, no deep lore and zero RPG elements. What does justify the purchase?, That's right, trophies. Just talk with mom and dad rabbit, find Lent's friends, talk with the turtle, find the little penguin, talk with the grown up penguin, return to your house and you're done. The plot is revealed as Lent wants to end the tradition of following a bunny so people follow Jesus. The End. Wait next week for Chapter Two (If Breakthrough Gaming decides to continue the game rather than re-releasing their craptastic catalogue as "Challenge Mode" editions).

Lent: Have you seen Pingu?
Grandma Penguin: No, and shut up.

On the graphics side, looks like Breakthrough Gaming/Project: Summer Ice really made an effort on the retro style by ditching the monochrome world of Our Church and Halloween and delievering colorful 16-bit like graphics. While the characters look over-sprited, is the backgrounds which look very well made. Just look at the bushes on the forest, they look like they will blend with Terranigma and even CrossCode, and no-one would note the difference. The overall surface texture looks quite repetitive like a cheap wallpaper, but its definitely a great step for Breakthrough Gaming's standards. For a game based on the Easter Bunny, anyone would expect anthropomorphic animals in the style of Yama Nezumi Rocky Chuck (Fables of the Green Forest), but here we have ordinary rabbits, a fox (which the game tries to make it pass as a wolf), a turtle and a penguin. A simple detail such as this makes all the characters look generic and dull when it could be vastly better. There's other weaknesses and those are the cave interiors which have these gray voids and the fonts which could be more "Pixel" like rather than the digitized text. The music is also an improvement, since it is no longer a crappy chiptune, but a more MIDI-like upbeat trumpet-xylophone mix that feels quite of an experimental music style. The music lasts 20 seconds and it loops again, and again and again. It's 10 seconds larger than the music of ZJ The Ball, but I'm sure they can do better.

LENT'S CURIOSITIES
- Bunita is pronounced exactly as "Bonita" which means "Pretty" in spanish.

At least for now.

Lent The Easter Bunny might be your usual crap from Breakthrough Gaming in all gameplay aspects, but at least we've got to admit they're pulling an effort on the audiovisual aspects of this one.
It just needs some minor improvments in graphic aspects and work harder on the gameplay if they want to go somewhere.
