Re: Under Defeat [Arcade/Dreamcast/PS3+360]
Didn't loop it, but did clear through the final boss. I put down 1-ALL as my stage. Not sure if that's how you want it listed.

Noted. Thanks for maintaining this board.Despatche wrote:Yeah, this thread uses "2-0" for 1-ALLs.

Thanks for the thanks, just wish I could maintain it better.

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
Re: Under Defeat
I'm definitely thinking about it at this point.Despatche wrote:Excellent. Just one more post.
My best scoring run had me at 4.8 million and crapping out at the last group of cannons just before 2-4's boss. Something like that would put me a bit over 5 million to start 2-5, and provided a solid 2-5 could in theory push me over six million.
It is certainly within the realm of possibility, but I need to refine my business quite a lot (consistent ALL's focusing more on scoring would be a good start) before taking a serious shot at the title.
All kidding aside though - getting this clear was special.

I agree, I was just making a joke about your forum post count, which is now at 2018.

Would like to do the Dreamcast version now. Too much slowdown in this PS3 version.

Re: Under Defeat
Awesome, shame I couldn't see it.
Yeah, that's the other thing. Honestly, the PS3 version should just be its own board entirely. Oh well.

New Order - VKL6.02(A) P
BKR - 2,764,240 - 2-2 - Reverse (twin stick OFF) - Xbox 360
Slower movement speed, but it's a powerful helicopter suited for an easy first loop clear that triggers the second loop. The default helicopter is probably better for a 2-ALL clear because some spots are easier with the faster movement speed? The VKL7.04(V) W helicopter, the white one with no charge shot, is atrocious. The lack of a charge shot is a major setback honestly, especially in New Order where the Cannon is supercharged and very useful.
I don't use twin stick mode, but I honestly don't think it makes a huge difference. Even in New Order, Reverse type movement can handle everything just fine. Twin stick may be slightly more optimal but I doubt it's a true gamebreaker so anyone who uses twin stick in arcade probably isn't at a significant score advantage.
I'm hoping to put up more scores for the rest of the helis. I'm close to clears for them, even if they don't loop, would like to put up a proper clear score for each (also because the scoreboard ingame doesn't show which heli you used I can't remember which! I gotta keep track better for the non clear scores, oops).
I also can't tell if 2P side or the 2P green heli handles differently. It seems like no, the speed and damage they do are the same, just less visibility than the red helicopter's high contrast colour.

You're still the king using the default helicopter though (until I can beat ya ;3).

Re: Under Defeat
How about a bump, and a new entry, eh?
EmperorIng - 2,558,730 - 2-1 - Normal - DC (Demul)
Just noting that I played on the Dreamcast emulator Demul, and since I was partially going back and forth between it and my DC, I didn't notice any major differences, except that the boss-death explosions which caused excessive slowdown on my DC (e.g. the 1-2 battleship) were noticeably faster.
This run went about as well as I could hope through the first 4 stages (no-miss!), and had I not died due to a mistake on the 1-5 spider mechs, I would have probably been able to soldier on through 2-2. Oh well!
I've wanted to 1all this game for a long time so I am glad I finally put in the practice over this past month and managed a decent 1 loop clear. I wasn't prepared for the second loop though, and quickly lost my footing. I recorded my run here for those interested (in editing I inserted the second loop ending just for completion's sake)

Wes112 - 4,488,640 - 2-5 - Normal - DC (Redream)
Not sure if it's an issue that I played on the Redream DC emulator. I'd love get a 2-All in this someday. Limited practice with the 2nd loop and nerves got the best of me.
No missed the first loop which was kinda cool.

Re: Under Defeat
I don't think that emulators are going to be an issue at this point, but you never know. I do appreciate not simply noting you used emulator, but also which one you actually used. Dreamcast emulation is not that much better than Nintendo 64 emulation right now, despite what some may have you believe.

Wes112 - 5,461,570 - All - Normal - DC (Redream)
Hit my main goal of getting a 2-All clear last week but no high score. Managed to get both this time around. Taking a long break from this game but I'd like to try and reach 6 million whenever I come back to it.
Also, it looks like I'm listed twice on the leaderboard (#6 and #23).

Little late but congrats wes. Not an easy ALL by any means.
