Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (Aug 7th)
Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (Aug 7th)
It appears that many of us are now more than 2 weeks past our second vaccination shot so holding a shmupmeet should be pretty safe.
For Saturdays, we have 6/19, 6/26, 7/3 (although, this is July 4th weekend, so probably a no-go), 7/10 and 7/17 coming up. Do any of these work for you guys?

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
I've never been to one of these, but moving back to DC 4th of July weekend, so I'd like to go to one that is a little later (if I'm invited!).

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
Pretty much any date works for me. I don't have any weekend obligations until August.
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
So should we aim for 7/10 or 7/17 then?
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
I'll be on a trip the weekend of the 10th, so I'd prefer the 17th
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
Glad you guys are planning for meetups again!
Not that I show up much, but July 10th is also the same wknd as Southeast Game Exchange in SC and the 17th is VGS in Chicago, both I'm planning to attend.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
I just realized an event in Pokémon GO I've already prepaid for takes place the weekend of the 17th. I think the event can be played decently well from my home, but it wouldn't be optimal.
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
So should we shoot for 7/24 then? I might have my NAOMI cart of Radirgy Noa by then.
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet
So after some deliberation, it looks like we'll be aiming for the 17th after all.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (7/17/21)
I can't make the 17th, 24th would work but don't reschedule on my account.
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (7/17/21)
Should we reschedule for the 31st? Would that work better for everyone?
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (?)
What does the 7th look like?

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (?)
I could do the 31st but not the 7th. I don't think I have any other conflicts in August.
If we're not meeting by the 31st I might need to swing by to pick up the exA before then to try to take it to an event.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (?)
This would be cool but 31st would be bad for me - there's an old fighting games meetup at MAP in Baltimore that day. I don't think I've got much planned on the 7th.
The rest of August is a little more up in the air for me, I'm not 100% on what it's looking like yet.

It seems that most folks are free on the 7th. StarCreator, if you can't make it, just let me know when you want to come collect the Exa Arcadia unit.
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (?)
See you all on the 7th then? This at the same place as the last pre-pandemic one?
Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (?)
Looks like the 7th is gonna be it. Seeing as StarCreator won't be able to make it, Minzoku and I will host. With the 2 cabs plus 2 CRTs and an HD set, having 5 screens available should be plenty.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (Aug 7th)
I really can't make the 7th. If there's no other date that works, then have fun! As I said earlier, my schedule is completely clear on any week after the 7th. If there's a way to make it work, I'd love to see everyone since it's been so long.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (?)
We are still in an AirBNB waiting for our house to close and the movers to deliver our stuff in September (I hope they didn't lose any of my PCBs!) so I can't bring any games, but would be happy to get out of the cramped room for a visit. Where are you located?Kiken wrote:Looks like the 7th is gonna be it. Seeing as StarCreator won't be able to make it, Minzoku and I will host. We'll go with the 7th of August but I think we should try to do another one in later September/early October since it's been so long. Would you be able to make one of those?StarCreator wrote:I really can't make the 7th. If there's no other date that works, then have fun! Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (Aug 7th)
I've got gear I can bring if there's interest - Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast (all with ODEs), the AES NeoSD, TG16, SNES or Genesis/32x with flash carts, pretty much any of the old 2nd gen game consoles (and several of the computers)... not sure what the monitor/CRT situation is but I've also got an upscaler as well. as a fairly portable Commodore monitor.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (Aug 7th)
We're good on consoles and CRTs. I've got a fair collection of console software too, but if there's something specific you'd like to play, go ahead and bring it (although, I may already have it).ubersaurus wrote:I've got gear I can bring if there's interest - Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast (all with ODEs), the AES NeoSD, TG16, SNES or Genesis/32x with flash carts, pretty much any of the old 2nd gen game consoles (and several of the computers)... not sure what the monitor/CRT situation is but I've also got an upscaler as well. as a fairly portable Commodore monitor.

For those attending tomorrow, make sure that you park in a non-numbered space and consider parking in the adjacent cul de sac as there are more free spaces there (ours is kinda small).
Start time is officially 2 pm.

Re: Summer 2021 DC/MD/VA Shmupmeet (Aug 7th)
Thank you to everyone who showed up! It was great finally having a meet up after all this time.
However, given the severity of everything going on right now, should anyone fall ill over the next two weeks, please let the rest of us know!
Thanks again!
