Official: Mushihime-sama Futari (1.0, 1.5, BLT)
Double post
Rumor has it (that's to say, I heard from a PCB supplier) that Cave will have Mushihime-sama 2 out some time after the Jamma show in September. That would mean some type of official announcement perhaps a month before.

Hmmm, a rumored sequel to Mushi. System will most likely to have a variant of the 'impact chaining' system that Mushi has, with maybe a few tweaks and alterations, like most of the direct sequels to the series they've produced.
Interesting to see if this will be the case, or if Cave decide to take a new direction with it. Hmmm.
(Thanks for the nugget of info, GP.)
@iatneH: nopan is guaranteed, this is Reko after all ^_-

I always announce wehn I double-post... regardless of what the information is. A habbit of sorts. Besides, I stated my source.Never_Scurred wrote:A link to the same post on a different board. hmmm..
At least its in english.
I'm very curious about how they could build on on the system. The ESPGaluda 2 upgrades were a nice progression. How do you build on raw chaining though? Perhaps an item which will allow you to hold on to the chain, or maybe a special mode (like kakusei) which will make the chain grow exponentially... or something like that.In any event, if this turns out to be true, I wonder if they'll introduce anything a bit more unique gameplay-wise to go with the knock-out aesthetics of the first one...
Again, it's not official in the least. Just figured I'd share.

Heck, I'm not even hoping for "building" so much as "replacing"...granted, a low-level player like myself certainly doesn't mind how the chaining in Mushi is a good deal more forgiving than in, say, DDP (as such, I'm a good deal more successful score-wise in the former, though that's not saying a whole lot), but as much as I don't hesitate to defend Cave against those who howl that "they never do anything new" at the drop of a hat, I have to say that Mushi really did give a sense of deja vu...granted, that certainly doesn't make it a bad game in my eyes, but even if I can say "okay, okay" when it's done for one game by itself, I don't know how eager I'd be to see it done a second time in a row, even if, as I said, the presentation is perhaps my favorite in all of Cave-dom.GaijinPunch wrote:I'm very curious about how they could build on on the system.
Then again, there's the argument that Mushi was a bit of a "back to basics" movement, especially considering "original" mode, which had barely any scoring system at all...I wonder if they'd put in a similar "a few different play styles/modes in one" feature in a sequel? Well, first I guess we oughta see if this thing even pans out, heh heh.

I could see them using something similar to the DOJ hyper system. Maybe not exactly the same but something similar to control the growth of your chains besides hacked buttons.GaijinPunch wrote:

I'm with you, although I'd hope they would leave the extra modes in. I'm just stating that I also enjoyed Origional Mode the most in Mushi.Herr Schatten wrote:That's good news.
Am I the only one who hopes for a true sequel to the survival-based gameplay of Original? I really wouldn't mind if they left out Maniac and Ultra this time.

Just because it's a "sequel" doesn't mean anything.LUNardei wrote:It's time for Cave to make an original game, not another number 2. Bad news.
DDP -> DDPDOJ. ESP Ra.De -> ESP Galuda. Ibara -> Pink Sweets. Etc, etc, etc.
And look at other companies like Treasure and their "spiritual sequels".
We're not talking EA and their gaming sausage factory here. Give it the benefit of the doubt before dissing it.
Having said that, I for one will be donning my "I'm a raving Cave fanboi" hat and dancing around my living room.

I agree, it better be a spiritual successor like RaDe -> Galuda, rather than a normal sequel like ESPG -> ESPG2 or DDP -> DOJ. Becuase Mushi's score system is stagnant compared to Cave's other scoring systems. It's complete garbage. The bullet patterns are also uninspired trash, but I think that had a lot to do with having 3 modes to produce, and they've gotten back in the saddle in this area with ESPG2.LUNardei wrote:It's time for Cave to make an original game, not another number 2. Anyone complaining about Cave doing a sequel is mad:
1) Up until this rumour there were constant rumours of Cave moving on to Mahjong games; ANY shooter from Cave is better than that.
2) Mushi seems to have been a very popular franchise (they love beetles in Japan don't they!) and the PCB is still selling at a high price (about the same as a Galuda 2 kit) so it makes sense to pick this for an update. If it makes them money it keeps them making other games.
3) Given that the other big Cave owned franchises all have sequels it makes sense for this one to get one. (Assume Dangun, Guwange, Progear are owned by Atlus/Capcom). Except for Ketsui I suppose but this is not so popular seemingly.
4) Its not like Cave don't introduce new franchises, 2005 saw Ibara, 2004 saw Mushi, 2002 saw Ketsui, 2001 saw Progear and so on. 2003 saw Galuda which was very different to Rade.
5) Its not like where sequels have been made they have been very similar.
Just my 5 cents; they can do whatever they want for me; I hope their 15th shooter is Mushi complete with 3 modes. Given 4 I suspect that the game will be a complete departure from the original as this year has already seen 1 1/2 pretty straight up sequels (I BL, I PS).
