Modding a 1990 19-in JVC CRT TV model C1918

Post by benyamin39 »

Hi,

I am trying to mod my Third CRT TV. The first one (A Sanyo) was a fail, the TV died during surgery. The second one (A Samsung year 1995) was a success. So I am not entirely new anymore to RGB modding.
This one is quite unusual (No dedicated OSD chip identified, but the TV has OSD) and I wonder if it is moddable (I hope yes because this TV is a nice square box with the tube recessed in the casing and therefore that TV would fit perfectly in my arcade cabinet without any need for a bezel!)

My first remark: The TV has no composite input, but it has an OSD. Is it still moddable?

I attached a picture of the PCB with RGB lines marked up from IC201 to the neck.
The first IC201 is a Toshiba TA8601BN which I believe is doing the signal processing from RF input. It only has an RGB signal out.
This signal is feeding IC321 which is in an analog switch model AN5862K, which basically pick up 2 RGB signals from 2 different sources (IC201 and another I don't know yet, maybe the OSD?) and select only one of it for the output based on a pulse signal from I believe the main controller. The output (PIN5/6/8) is feeding the neck of the tube. So I guess this is the endpoint.
IC202 is another AN5862K circuit which I have no idea what it is doing (it is picking up the V BLK signal and only a few pins seems to be connected)

Hope someone recognizes this configuration and gives me a few hints for a successful mod!

Thx in advance

Did you ever get anywhere with this mod? I’m trying to figure out a Mitsubishi CS-40707 that uses the same AN5862K IC.

Unfortunately no, I blew up the TV and my graphic card as well, probably due to a short in my connections. From what I remember, it looks like this TV can be modded.
