Very nice. I see it doesn't have a plexi panel on top of it, how did you print the artwork and does it have some sort of plastic finish to prevent scratching?
It has plexi, I just suck at taking pictures

Got the PS/PS2 cord last week for my pcb.

I can confirm that Strikers 1945 for the PS (the one that is really Strikers II) will not work with the PS360+ on either console.

Seems to be an issue with the game itself as my other PS games work with it.
My lord, I have come for you.

I saw this on ebay and was curious about it for making a lower cost PC stick. Glad to hear that it works, and at least the delay isn't noticeable though hard to believe it is zero. Thanks for the detailed post about it, very helpful!

How would you orient the joystick if it didn't have the 5-pin connector? :o

Sticks with no pcb can be oriented which way you want, it wouldn't make any difference. The only thing is that you would not use the 5-pin connector at all, instead you need to use the 4 separate connectors which you can see highlighted in red here:

Imagefree image upload

Of course the connectors need to have the larger 0.187 quick disconnects which don't come with this specific kit but you can easily make your own connectors. I am actually working on this because I have another stick which uses a non-PCB LS-32 stick and I plan to use this same Zero Delay model.

Not quite a fight stick, this was a fully enclosed Raspberry Pi console with hdmi out, a side input for a second player an a rechargeable battery.

Here's my latest a solid walnut case for modern consoles and PC.

My next project will use the PS360+ and I'll use it for dreamcast fighting games.

I might be able to open it up later for some pictures. i do have a little diagram I made while putting it together.

It's not included on here but I ended up panel mounting a DC jack and wiring that to the charging circuit. Also the buttons are wired into an Ultimarc I-Pac which plugs into the usb of the Pi. I didn't want to bother with the gpio and honestly didn't know how when I took on this project.

Very nice rig. Did you make the case yourself or can you find those larger cases online?

Now for something a lot easier, I have upgraded my old Agetech with new artwork and plexi from Tek-Innovations and installed another zero delay pcb, works perfectly with steam for me. I love these solderless kits.

Thanks! I made the cases myself. I was actually working on a tutorial to make one but never ended up finishing it.

hey, powerfuran

Now I see you talk about ZeroDelay PCBs, do you know of a reliable solution for playing on any console? I mean, what if I wanted to use a ZeroDelay custom stick in PlayStation 2?

I don't have any multi-console needs atm so I haven't really investigated that, but from what I can see on srk the best multi-console board is still the Toodles Chtulu which I don't know if it is still available in the market at all. The only thing with that is that you need to make your own console cables using the RJ45 standard, you can see some pictures and examples here.

There might be other options available now that I don't know about though...

gonna be rigging up a rgb mame setup and got a good deal on a couple of sticks/cases and had a few lying round so i thought i'd buy/mess around with
various sticks i got and after market mods and try and find what is the best stick for me.i've always
had trouble with minute tap dodging on stock jlf and ls32 so i'm hoping to find something that will improve that for me.

the suzo is good for tap dodging but i find them rubbish for diagonals(mebbes just the sticks at casino were busted but i didn't like them)
got the following sticks available
Seimitsu LS-40-01 x1
Seimitsu LS-56-01 x1
Seimitsu LS-32-01 x2
Sanwa jlf x3

and these after market mods
KOWAL™ 1mm Oversize Actuators for Sanwa JLF Series Joysticks
KOWAL Flat Plate Converters
KOWAL LS-32 Octopus Octagonal Restrictor Gate
2lb Tension Springs For Sanwa JLF Series Joysticks
4lb Tension Spring For Sanwa JLF Series Joysticks
KOWAL LS.ST Short Throw Mod for Seimitsu LS-55/56/58/60-01 Joystick
(Size: LS-56, LS-58, LS-60 (4 x 25mm Screws))
Seimitsu ls-56 Octagonal Gate
Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate

anyways i'll mess about with the sticks and various possible combinations over the next
few days and let you know...gasp
my opinions.. :P

That's a healthy load of stuff for your arcade pleasure.

I didn't know there was a mod to shorten the throw of the LS-56 - it is already pretty damn short as it is :) btw, the LS-58/LS-56 with lighter spring is my favourite lever among microswitched ones. Let us know what you end up preferring and maybe post a pic of your weapon ^^

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!

Post by charlie chong »

will post pics of the sticks at the end when i decide all the final resting places after testing

ROUND 1

sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATORRR + 4LB SPRING VS sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR + 2LB SPRING

FIGHT!!!!1

both mods were mounted in a qanba q4 and mushimesama 1.5 black label original was played as i am fairly
consistent at the game and it the playstyle has lots of screen sweeps, twitching, sweeping boss tap dodges from left to right
and up and down/diagonal movements for point blanking so is a good test for a stick.i tried the octagonal gate but been using
square gates for years and it just felt weird so went back to the square gate.

sanwa+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATORRR + 4LB SPRING

horrible.. much too stiff and the diagonals are really dodgy much like a suzo..if you like suzo then
i guess you might like this mod combo.. i hated it.good tap dodging tho.
might try sticking the spring in a ls-32 at a later date and see what that's like.

sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR + 2LB SPRING
straight away this felt right..smooth with the right amount of tightness, short throw and none of the grindy metal feel you get with a ls-32.
tap dodges, diagonals ,sweeps all feel nice and the spring returns to center with a nice snap..

round one winner= sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR + 2LB SPRING

only the first test but hard to imagine a stick feeling nicer than this.. will carry on tho and we will see

next up
qanba with sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR + 2LB SPRING VS madcatz t.e with stock ls-40

Qanba with sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR + 2LB SPRING VS Madcatz t.e with stock ls-40

round 2..... fyght!!!!

obviously my thoughts on the sanwa with mod will still be the same so will just give my thoughts
on whether i think the stock ls-40 is better or worse overall than the modded sanwa and how it compares
to others i know and use like the ls-32

engage is short as is the throw and shaft length.. the spring feels a tad stiffer than a ls-32
too.definitely less sloppy feeling than a ls-32 but still has that metal grindy feel when hitting the switches/going up
against the gate.overall a good stick but not as good for me as the modded sanwa as it feels slightly less precise coupled with the grindy feel..

winner
sanwa jlf+ 1MM OVERSIZE ACTUATOR + 2LB SPRING

next UP
ls-56 (stock) VS ls56-short throw mod(1 riser) VS LS56-short throw mod(2 riser2)

Re: Custom Sticks Thread!!

Post by charlie chong »

for this i mounted the ls-56 in a razer atrox case as i was gonna be switching the parts 3
tiems and this stick has a flip top lid allowing for easy access
i played progear on mame
ls-56-01 stock
spring seems looser than ls32 or 40.throw is shorter.people rate this stick stock but i prefer
the ls32 and 40 over this.. diagonals seem a bit sloppy for me.

LS56-01 (KOWAL SHORT THROW MOD 1 RISER)

adding one riser instantly tightened the stick up a bit as well as shortening engage
times and throw distance and made it feel pretty much exactly the same as the ls-40 so feel much the same as i do about that..

ls56-01 (KOWAL SHORT THROW MOD 2 RISER)

made the stick feel a bit stiffer and again shortens engage and distance even more.this
makes the stick even nicer and has the most smooth/least grindy feel for a seimitsu that i
have felt so far. this for me is the next nicest after the sanwa with oversize actuator and 2 pound spring...

so my personal results in order i favour for shooters (not tested fighters)

stock sticks
1.ls-40
2.ls-32
3.ls-56
4.sanwa jlf

modded sticks
1.sanwa jlf with oversize actuator and 2 pound spring
2.ls-56 KOWAL SHORT THROW MOD 2 RISER
3.ls-56 KOWAL SHORT THROW MOD 1 RISER
4.sanwa jlf with oversize actuator and 4 pound spring

overall
1.sanwa jlf with oversize actuator and 2 pound spring
2.ls-56 KOWAL SHORT THROW MOD 2 RISER
3.ls-56 KOWAL SHORT THROW MOD 1 RISER +ls40 (stock)
4.ls-32 (stock)
5.ls-56 (stock)
6.sanwa jlf (stock)
7.sanwa jlf with oversize actuator and 4 pound spring

so if you like stiff smooth sticks (teh ladiez choice) and have a jlf lying around then it

might be worth the £4 investment in the oversize actuator and spring..

Agree, the JLF with those exact mods feel perfect to me too. The spring can be original, I guess, I don't mind the easier action.

Thanks Stevens. All 3 sticks have the same cheap USB encoder: https://www.amazon.it/XCSOURCE-ritardo- ... sb+encoder

It works fine and the autofire is a nice addition. However I feel that sooner or later they will crap out on me. They do look cheap. I still have some PS1 padhacks laying around but for now I am using the sticks only on Steam and the USB encoder works flawlessly.

Oh? I guess I done goofed

Image

I tried it, I don't like the junk that comes into the frame at the top, body parts of a character you can't see, small patches of blue sky that are no where else in the image, this stuff was a deal breaker. Reco's face is also too close to the buttons for my tastes, no room to breath. This crop was about framing the best shot of her in the top rectangle shaped window above the buttons. The only consolation I had to make was cutting off her annoyingly tall hat.

I spent a good hour on this crop moving it around and re-sampling it, it was a tricky one but it was either this or not using it, the original flyer is vertical, it was awkward either way cropping it for a horizontal image, especially with so many different characters in it. I was going to use more of the top to get the other character and the dragon, but the Queen ruined that because her lower half crept into the image as well.

If this were a print for a poster I would agree with your assessment, but on a stick, the cut outs make it awkward to achieve.

Thanks for the positive reply

So far the only mod I did was swapping out a square gate for an octagonal gate on the F300, F500, and the Qanba Obsidian. Should look into custom artwork, especially for the Mayflash sticks, though I like the art on the Chun Li Hori RAP V for Switch too much to change it.
